When did you last do a little victory dance?
Icy North Started conversation Jun 1, 2017
Mine was yesterday. I appealed against two parking tickets... and won!
The spontaneous dance involved one of those alternate 'fingers pointing to the sky' moves seen on football terraces. No audience was present, thankfully.
And so, when/why was your last victory dance, and how would you describe the moves?

Do you mean THIS move?

Oddly enough, about two weeks ago when my ex (of 24 years) listened to reason and decided not to move to a traveler's mobile home site and rented a cottage in the village where she has lived for a long time.
It was more like a fist-pump accompanied by 'YESSSSSSS'.
(It didn't matter so much to me but it was a fairly big deal for our (adult)children.)

There's been so little victory to celebrate of late. Well, maybe the end of the drought. But I don't feel like doing a rain dance.

closest I came was a victory 'mince' or bum waggle, after my last weigh in on the scales.... I don't think anyone needs a description of it...

Is it anything like Coronation chicken?

I said to myself, "Coronation chicken has to be a recipe," and it was!

It's one of those dishes you find on workplace canteen menus every week or two.

Victory mince is also the name of a food item

I'm just not sure I want to eat pie that contains carrots and apples.

Think my last full-on fist pump, play Blur's Song2 at top volume moment was being offered a job by my current employer. Which was both a massive vote of confidence in me, a huge vindication of everything I'd said throughout a long and painful restructure, and a giant and glorious flock ewe to everyone involved. Followed by a sinking realisation that I'd have to sell up, find somewhere new to live in a new city etc and so on...
More recently it's been crossing finish lines at running races. I used to adopt the too-cool-for-school just run through the line, but these days it's more chariots-of-fire arms behind me, head back, chest first pose, or at least an arms aloft moment. Though when I've run a really good race I've got nothing left to think about finishing celebrations.

The only times that running is justified is if you have startled a large bull or a snarly farm dog . . . .

In a French art film accent:
"No 'petite danse de la victoire' pour moi. My life is an endless, stagnant canal of loneliness and ennui."

Do tell me, mon cher: what is this "victory" thing you mentionned? Je ne sais pas.
