I have tendonitis in my shoulder which is very painful and a nuisance.
It is an especial when using my computer mouse for protracted periods, like photo editing.
I am considering a Wacom intuos 5 tablet as I have a very large number of photos to sort and wondered if anyone has experience of them.
I have a Mac, am using iPhoto, but have Photoshop Elements and Lightroom installed but not used yet.
Please can someone help?

Hello, this looks good I have used a tablet but that was years ago. The pen had a wire and that was a nuisance, and the ability of the pad was very limited.
Having said all that it was a treat to use with all photo work easy relaxing a real pleasure.
Painting effects that a mouse would find almost impossible. the only reason I stopped using it was the software, it became obsolete.
Get one you will love I think I might get one as well its the first time I have seen one of these.

The answer to the question is 42,
[Sorry, couldn't resist ]
I have some tendonitis in my arm and shoulder, so I think I'm dealing with some of what you are. It's not as painful, but any pain is kind of scary. This is most common in January and February. One thing that I do to cope is to bring my left hand over to work the mouse, as much as possible.
I hope that some of what I've said is helpful. I can't offer any other help, I'm afraid. Sorry.

paulh, it is very easy to put the mouse on the left and learn to use it with your left hand all the time. It's easier if you switch the buttons around.

I would find holding the mouse with my left very awkward. I thought that it was purposely put on the right so that your left hand was free to do all the functions (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y, Ctrl+V etc). However, I would like to be able to use it when typing in loads of numbers with the number pad. (although then I'm using my left hand to keep my place in the list of numbers I'm typing up - perhaps I need three hands).
Anyway - none of that applies to a Mac, so maybe MMF should try the ambidextrous approach.

Yay for having a tendon.
Currently I have your problem having ruptured my right - and dominant - distal bicep tendon.
(came off my bike 3 weeks ago on ice)
I haven't found any solution yet except 'one day I shall wield my sword in my left as deftly as I did with my right.
Hope you recover soon.

We all could use three hands. Perhaps Zaphod Beeblebrox could coach us?

I have, and on occasion do, use the mouse in the left hand but I
Find it slow and erratic, especially for photo editing. Also the layout of my 'office' is such that the only place I can really put the mouse and pad is in the right.
The desk, when moved from my old flat, lost a castor and so the other three were removed, making it a little low and the sides warped slightly so the keyboard slide-out tray doesn't slide as it falls off of the runners. A real nuisance. These, along with the tendinitis are the reasons why I am thinking of a graphic tablet but wanted to get opinions first.
Thanks all for the information.
