Reassuring? I find it quite worrying,..... I mean... we've a reputation for topic drift to maintain you know... I think its important to maintain standards... For, without standards, we're left with... Hmmm... ahh... although... Nope. that arguement/reasoning is going nowhere...

I feel your pain, 2Legs. Nevertheless, it's a given that by the time a thread has been rolling for 150 posts, it's only the topic-drift-challenged ones that are still on board. This is a benign phenomenon. we don't want newbies or logical people to see our true nature right off the bat. Don't want to scare them away, until we get a chance to corrupt them .

"Corrupt" is such a strong word.... I much prefer "Retrain"

But... yes.. quite right; It never pays to show someone your imaginary transexual chinchillas, or dwarves, on a first date, best to warm them up to the idea first, with some drunken bunnies (drunken dust bunnies might be best left until later too), and perhaps some subtle trained attack badger(isms), early on, then move up to teh transexual chinchillas, perhaps before getting as far as nighthooverism.... ONly, then, once you know they're confedent around your transexual chinchillas, and nighthooverisms, is it, probably, prudtent to reveal that your really Tony Curtis, and so is your badger... If they survive all that... you've probably done something right

In the interest of further topic-drift, and to tell a tale...

In my year of high school (12th Grade, about 17 years old) my school offered a course in psychology for the first time I of course applied for a class.

On the first day desks are usually assigned on a first come - first served basis and the names are recorded on the official seating chart and remain assigned for the year. I made it a point to get there early, picked a seat in the third row near the centre of the room and placed my books on the desk next to me on the next row. As the others came in I insisted they not sit there because that was for 'Harvey' my imaginary (inspired by the Jimmy Stuart film).

It turned out our teacher was conducting her first year teaching, and several of us spent most morning and afternoon hours in her classroom talking about almost anything.

The desk did remain empty for the term
