Well, I'm still here. I think I've written everything I want to write about (although as I write these words another idea pops into my head) for the edited guide. I've only really written guide entries when I think what I write can be the best thing on the internet on that particular subject. There are a few exceptions, and I guess some of my more personal/subjective stuff can't really be measured in that way.

I still think Ask h2g2 will be a valuable source of information and voices of experience for as long as there's a diverse group of people reading.

I guess I do miss some of the more interesting debates that perhaps don't happen so much any more, but I don't miss the people/posts who just came here looking for an argument ("Five minutes, or the full half hour?").

I have mixed feelings about arguments. I used to run a book discussion group. The best discussions were ones where people disagreed heatedly. The worst ones were the ones where everybody liked the book.

I love the wide range of responses on most topics here. smiley - smiley

Absolutely. Some of the great arguments here were quite enlightening. The people I won't miss were the trolls. The ones that seemed to enjoy the rage, not the discussion.

Agreed! BUT it's a nightmare for moderators(and I moderate on a very much more viciously aggressive site than hootoo) so no trolls please especially the really nasty ones.

Mr. X ---> "Be excellent to each other. And party on, dudes!"

Well I certainly hope not, I sent them a quote!

Specifically this quote: F19585?thread=8308972&skip=46&show=1

If anybody from QotD is still operating, they should use that quote.

You do realise that saying things like 'can someone start it again' is practically volunteering?smiley - winkeye

smiley - bigeyes It must be a fair tastk, especially if its done daily... (QOTD that is), My life sadly is too random to have such a fixed essence as to determine a spatial and temporal consistancy consistant with such a requirement of consistancy over any temporal length beyond the very short-term... Mind... someone would have to be mad to let me be reponsible for QUTD.... smiley - snorksmiley - whistle though it is tempting... smiley - snork nah... How true, how ture indeed. And, least us not forget the rabbits, for how often is it they are fogotten, and how often, again, in their being forgotten, do we reap teh rewards of our own rabbit forgetfullness.
For, was it not as it was once, so eliquently writen, that it is easier to overlook a rabbit, than it is for a fat man to stand on a drawing pin. And, lo, as nere we frorget the rabbits, before long they shall forget us, and in their forgetting, does our essence itself remove. For only wihin those tiny, bright eyes, and oh-so floppy ears, does our presence, iternal, render itself non-void, by its imutable existance of thought; Thusly, as we forget the rabbits, so our soul a little bit ebbs away. smiley - zen Or, at least my Grandmother used to tell me... on teh rare ottercasion she stopped whittering on about Eels. As mad as a teaspoon. smiley - zensmiley - run

Yes BB

That would assume several things including a predisposition to the task in question and the the question of the mechanism involved in achieving the task being explained in some minuscule detail.
