2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Nov 16, 2012
I started using the hom e delivery/internet grocery shopping basically as soon as it started.
In the early years it was eratic, strange substitutions, missing items, late deliverys etc.
However, these days I rarely ger a substitution; If I do, its far more sensible; E.G., one 'flavour' of shampoo, substituted for another of the same make, rahter than giving a differnt make, or a 2 in 1, rather than solo shampoo etc.
I've used Waitrose, Sainsburrys and now mainly use Tescos, with sometimes a sainsburrys shop for a change, Tescos and Waitrose are the better of the three, at having less substitutions and missing items etc.
Rarely get missing items these days, and the fresh stuff always seems perfectly fine, meat cuts are good, not the fatty ones, etc.
I do a shop about every three months; now, mainly getting lots of kitchen cupboard, bathroom cupboard, and millions of bags of flour etc., stuff, plus a ton of frozen stuff, and a few things I can not get locally from the shops, with a fair amount of fresh veg, meat and cheese/hams etc., just to have a variation from what I buy locally, and again for stuff I cna't get locally.
They've definately got a whole lot better since starting; Though with tipping, it'd just never occured to me; its useually a differnt driver, or set of drivers, as I dont' always get the same delivery time....
I used to deliver the takeaway delivery boys, when I used to order out for takeaway food (rarely do that now, as my reduced waist line can vouce for), which apart from anything else, useually meant a quick delivery on subsequent times

Oh dear...
I like to think, on a cold night, when a poor, underpaid, cold, boared, and pretty young delivery boy comes to my door, I can, in some small way, be able to ensure he leaves with a spring in his step, and a smile on his face... 'Spread the love with I can't believe its not illegal'...

A new FWP -
Just got a new phone and I'm really wondering if the pace of technology is starting to outstrip me. It's very nice and all but I'm damned if I can figure most of it out. Why can't they just keep everything where it was on my old phone but just be brighter, faster and whizzier?

I'm now commiting a deadly sin, or breaking a commandment. Or both.
I really want a HTC One but still have nearly a year on my contract.

A Samsung Galaxy S3. Which is, to be fair, a perfectly good bit of kit.
But I love go faster stripes!

I've heard the S3 is good, my sister loves hers. Main thing I've noticed about the One is the speed and the awesome speakers making video and calls really clear (and loud). I tether my iPad to my work iPhone and the speed is ...meh. Tethering it to the One is like hardwiring it to broadband!

I've got an S3. It's a superb mini-computer but less impressive as an actual phone. The new HTC One is good at both, but the S3 is arguably better. The speakers are great and the camera is sensational.
The battery life sucks though.

I'm finding battery life to be pretty good tbh. It handles a three hour Endomondo cycle ride no problem anyway, which my old Sensation struggled with. Severe shortage of cases for it though.

I run quite a lot of apps, and so I find that the 1gb memory in the S3 is starting to cause things to slow down a wee bit. It also means sometimes background apps I don't want to close (Airdroid in particular) close.
So I am really keen to get a phone, like the HTC One, with 2gb RAM.
However that is most definitely not enough to be able to justify either paying >£200 to buy a sim free phone, or paying off 9 months of contract.
Boo!
Maybye I'll try one of the MediaTek chipset Chinese phones....

The HTC One is the phone I'm looking to go for next. I've got the HTC Desire XL at the moment and am very impressed with it. I had a play with the One before they were properly launched and was *very* impressed with it. But I'm in contract until October, but that's only a few months now

Trouble with an October renewal date (at least for Androidistas, different if you are an iFanatic)is that it is right slap bang in the middle of the premium Android blower cycle.
So that means the top tech is already 6 months old and soon to be replaced by even shiner preciouses, but because the new blowers are not right on the imminent horizon the 6 month old HTC One/SGS4/Xperia Z are still costing top dollar either to buy or get on contract.
To the exten that I engineered getting an April renewal date just so my contract would be up around when either Gucci new phones are out, or last years model had just dropped loads in price.

Good thinking. The good deals are starting to show up for the One ( I got u/l mins, u/l texts, 2gb data for £32) but my wife always gets a better deal than me because she's a month behind. Last time she got a very similar package to me for £10 a month less.

2Gb data?
Bloody hell I use about 10gb a month on my phone!
