Does the Jubilee mean anything to you?

Sounds like fun, rain and all.
Just watched the grand finale singing of The Queen.
Couldn't help but notice that Phillip and Charles
were not singing, but William was belting it out.
I wonder what the protocol is for family members
to sing along.

That’s Phillip in the house tonight, no‘ing for him.
As for Charles, he’s most probably forgot the words bless him.
William, well, won’t do him any harm and he might get a bigger prezzie this year for his efforts

I thought the "Gloriana" was stunning and feelings about the monarchy put to one side, I would have loved to have seen that boat in her full splendour for myself.

The whole thing was brilliant. Admittedly I dozed off while the Queen was floating down the Thames but I woke up again when she got to Tower Bridge so I still saw all the boats.
Our street party was very damp. Lots of people relocated to the Church, and there was a great atmosphere in there, but we were determined to sit in the street so we did - drinking mulled wine in my case - for about an hour, and then we decided we'd done our bit and came home again for hot baths and a roaring fire. Hopefully better weather for the village picnic tomorrow.

OH, bye the way, I don’t want folk thinking I’m not patriotic, where the only house in the street with bunting and flags flying and for good measure, we’ve got two flags on the car as well

I am an anti-royalist of the highest order, but by gum.......we do pageant and pomp rather well don't we?
Only two gripes about tonights musical extravaganza. Rob Brydon missed the best opportunity of the night by not REALLY launching a Mexican wave for those poor bods at the end of the Mall.
And......
Lenny Henry, you do not interrupt the godlike Rolf of Harris singing 'Two little boys' because we are running out of time!!!!

I know, that was just ridiculous, Rolf only had half a verse to go. *AND* he was *asked* to do it to fill in because they hadn't got Stevie Wonder staged in time. *AND* the audience were loving it.

The PM can be Church of England, Church of Scotland, Jewish or Methodist but not Catholic.
The Archbishop of Canterbury can be Church of England, Methodist or Catholic, but not Jewish.

Interesting to see the responses of someone less familiar with UK tradition. I believe you can be prime minister if you aren't a member of the church of England, but it would be awkward, as part of the role of the prime minister is to advise the queen on the appointment of bishops. A number of prime ministers have converted to other religions very soon after they left office.
That said I think that the Uk people would have no problem electing a prime minister of any religion.

Oh my brief reading found that the prime minister could be catholic, but that there has never been a catholic prime minister, or at least not an open one. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7157409.stm
