I thought the grace was fabulous. I thought he'd make a meal out of it* but it was the simplest grace in the world and I thought it was dignified and fitting to these austere times - reminding all those privileged people to be grateful for the food they might easily take for granted.
But I do agree with your previous comment, fluffy, about not addressing her. Although perhaps there's protocol which says he shouldn't. I suppose it would be awkward for her if the speaker looked directly at her, she might have to look back, all that eye contact, .
Deb
*no pun intended

A massive round of applause to the road sweepers, dustmen, firemen, ambulance personel, and Police and all the other public servants who were working all over the Jubilee bank holidays to make the events work as they did.
While we were enjoying our days off, they carried on, unseen , and provided us with the environment to celebrate safely, and in comfort.

i really did not intend that to become the monolog it was...
actually started out as questions i had during it all...
i see now that the Queen does NOT want anyone helping her into or out of carriages or cars, or up or down stairs, or anything like that... very very interesting
and sorry about the national anthem thing... but i don't think that was the song i was commenting on.... it was the tumble of organ notes as they all left the cathedral... and i decided it probably sounded pretty good if you have decent speakers on your receiver ...which i don't
all in all very enjoyable and a great look see at some fantastic architecture
i followed along googling and wikipediaing the buildings...
thanks to those of you who answered my questions
