h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I liked the old H2G2, it looked the way that I imagined the proper Hitch-hiker's Guide would look! But this new H2G2 looks like everything else on the BBC, that's such not a bad thing I suppose, but it's not ... oh I don't know how to explain it ... it almost looks too polished now, and I preferred it when it looked just a little bit scruffy!! It seemed more like the proper Guide that Ford would have known and loved, and that Arthur would eventually grow to know and love!!

The old H2G2 actually felt like a community, with people caring about each other, but this new format just seems so standard, so formal, and it makes me feel like I'm an outsider again.

Is there anyone else out there who feels the same way I do, or am I just being old-fashioned in that I liked the old H2G2?

You're far from the only one who feels that way - there's been, well, a mixed reaction to the new Barlesque h2g2, to say the least.

Indeed, and the new format seems to be the kiss of death for any messagebaord on the BBC interweb...notice how The Archers boards have been untouched and they are still going...

At this point, I´m just happy h2g2 is still around.

This isn't the old h2g2. That other thing is just a new skin.

It may be just a new skin Mina, but it doesn't look right, it doesn't work properly, half the code is wrong (as far as I can tell!) and I still prefer the old Brunel skin ... at least that one works!!

The site's never been the same since we lost our long-standing four skins...just doesn't feel the same to me.

I know the feeling 3dots!! I hadn't been on here in ages, and when I did log back in everything's changed!! Bless the BBC they do a fantastic job of producing brill radio 4 programs and tv series like Wonders of the Universe, but why did they have to fiddle with and mess up hootoo?!?!

I'll have you know that my skin isn't old.

I*m a cranky old Alabasterd through and through and I keep to this side of things even though I opened a barlesque PS just in case a while back....

I use the * instead of the ' to point out the ridiculous of what was supposed to be divine. I'll stay Alabaster until the bitter end, whenever that is.
