Malabarista - now with added pony Posted Oct 30, 2009
I've just found an interesting bit in the BBC iD help page:
>>If you are 16 years old or younger, we need your parent's or guardian's permission before we store any personal information about you. We'll either ask you to get your parent to agree to the terms and conditions, or if you give us your email, we will ask you for their email address and then send them an email asking them if it is ok for you to use bbc.co.uk services.<<
Does this mean our under-16s will be able to come back, or is that just for other sites?
Also, there is now a "how to delete your account" section. Someone want to go tell nighthoover? It would be rather a sad second coming if he merely came back to effect his own destruction.

HonestIago Posted Oct 30, 2009
Just tried to register, and it won't let me have HonestIago as my sign-in for both.
It just seems a retrograde step to make me use two Usernames when I've been using one for years without any issues.

I think your sign-ins have to be different (otherwise how would they tell them apart?) but you can then change your user name to HonestIago in Preferences on both accounts.

There's a strong chance I'll forget other sign-ins. On the internet I'm either myself or some derivation of HonestIago.
I have a hard enough time remembering which password goes with which particular version of me or HonestIago. Asking me to remember a different password and a different user name is like asking me to grow wings.
Plus, all the other names I can think of have already been taken, so I'll just stay off the BBC blogs and such until the New Year.

Hi,
I'm on what they call a digibox I've tried signing on to the BBC Iplayer message board it won't let me
So if I can't get on that and in the near future (next year 2010) h2g2 is to to change to the BBC iD sign on how do I get on here??
It seems to me your fasing out digiboxes not been able to get on here!
I have one account and one account ONLY not two, three etc my old accounts have all been deleted by h2g2.support
Digital technology isn't for the better but the worse. If I can't get on h2g2 in the near future so be it (Off Topic) I won't be paying anymore TV Licence after the switch over from Analog to Digital >Simples<
Its out of date anyway, the way I see it we're the only country that pay the TV Licence but everyone from all corners of the world able to get on here, watch the BBC TV channels its all wrong! *sigh*

Well, they may do but they get advertising with it and dont get all the programmes by any means.
The BBC is more than a couple of TV channels though, it's an organisation.
Personally, I dont like HOW the licence is enforced, bu I do agree with having it. I value the BBC is only for the TV and radio services I receive with no adverts. *bliss*

Yeah.....
some countries at least let you watch some videos though
And guess what, overseas users have all the ads as well (the revenue probably helps to keep the license fee down)
Although I understand some generous people here think input from overseas is interesting in itself....
Can't suit everybody I guess

Here you are, LifesTooShort: http://www.ard.de/ , http://www.zdf.de/
Hit the "mediathek" links for watching past programmes
Now that you hace access to the channels we pay licence fees for, it's all sorted.

Write them all out on a post-it and stick it the monitor, like the rest of us do!

Got it !
'As well' meant as well as not being able to access all content. When you get a 'not available in your country' message, you still get the ads...

I have an address book in the computer desk drawer with each website under the appropriate letter. Log-in name, password, it's all there, freely available to any old burglar!

Let's not turn this conversation into a debate about the merits of the BBC.

Sorry, just felt that a balancing view about the theory that we pay for something that everyone else gets for free was appropriate.
Key: Complain about this post
