So there are a number of stables, your common or garden looney toon; Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety And Sylvester, Tom and Jerry etc. Your more esoteric Hannah Barbera; Captain Caveman, Hong Kong Phooey, Wacky Races, Hair Bair Bunch, Catch the Pigeon etc. Your 'classic' Disney; Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Bambi, Aladdin, Pocamahontas etc. Your Cosgrove Hall; Danger Mouse, Count Duckula etc. Your old school of badly drawn Aubrey, Roobarb & Custard, Henry's Cat etc. The new generation of cartoons; Cow and Chicken, Ed, Edd & Eddie, Courage etc. Or that school of badly dubed European cartoonage; Ulysees, Dogtanian, Around the World in 80 days, G Force etc. But, across all these, across the ages, what is the single most definative all roundest, bestest cartoon character of them all...

My vote goes for the mild mannered janitor, Penry, Hong Kong Phooey, surely the best cartoon ever made. With and honorable mention going out to Elmer Fudd for al that pesky wabbit huntin over the years.

For he's unfailing optimism and world class stupidity not to mention huge collection of magic nose gobblins and all around ability to anooy Ren Hoek. Stimpson J. Cat from the Ren and Stimpy show has to be my favourite.
