That reminds me ~ Michael Praed or Jason Connery as Robin of Sherwood.
For me it was always Praed

I liked Jason Connery as Robin of Sherwood but I watched them all anyway, I liked they way they used both legends about how Robin Hood came about

I always enjoyed it ~ but it did feel like they'd tried to get every Robin Hood legend they'd ever read in there somewhere.
Didn't it have a young Ray Winston in it somewhere?

Ray Winston was Will Scarlet I think.
Apparently it was the Robin of Sherwood TV series that started the idea of Robin having a Moorish friend.

Must admit, I cried bucket loads when Micheal Praed died at the end of the first series. Took me ages to get used to Jason Connery!

I only vaguely remember Robin of Sherwood's original run (although I have since watches repeats and videos). The most enduring memory is being confused as to why Robin suddenly had blond hair!

Michael was the original Robin, son of Herne the Hunter, and was about to marry Maid Marion then he got shot and died!

The Merry Men kinda interviewed for a new one and Jason Connery was Sir Robert of Loxley and got chosen and then he changed his name to Robin and it was all mystical and forest spirity and stuff.

Basically they had to cover up why he suddenly had blonde hair!!

I thought praed was loxley and connery was some bloke called hutingdon.
Think Herne was supposed to have picked him ~ but they ended the praed shows with him shooting a flaming arrow to give a sign to the new hooded man.Funny that bit always stuck in my head

Could well have been pixel, I was quite young at the time and just remember all these weird bits with lots of fog and horned men in the woods!

Jason was the son of the rich guy anyway, wasn't he? and he had to give it all up to be Robin.

There was a whole bit where he didn't believe and then he got pushed into it.
Then had to prove himself to the merry men with the whole burning arrow bit again.

Ok, Michael Praed was Robin of Loxley son of Alric of Loxley who was bought up by the Miller after Alric died

Jason Connery was Robert of Huntingdon, who was chosen by Herne the Hunter to be his son

And Yes it was a young Ray Winston who was Will Scarlet and Clive Mantle from Casualty was Little John
