True Marmalade is made from Seville oranges, which give marmalade it's sharpness!

MMF, true marmalade is Portuguese and nowt to do with oranges! A2903681
Being a fairly avowed Marmite hater, I had reason to try it again this week, inspired by this thread! I had it thinly spread on hot, buttered toast with a sliced lightly hard boiled egg (hard boiled but not solid!) on top. Surprising myself, I thought it was lush!

that does sound pretty lush. Never had it like that before with a softish boiled egg. Shall try at the first opportunity.

Try it again, or leave it alone. Either way, it won't change your life. One of the wonders of biodiversity is that we have life-forms like yeast which provide marmite for Brits, vegemite for Aussies, and , ale and wine for everyone else.
But you don't have to love or hate any of these things; some are just mediocre. And despite the best efforts of the advertisers, Marmite is just a brown yeast spread.
PS - there's no santa claus.

Point conceded, Deakie, but the British version, to make it more palatable, used Seville oranges, and the tradition continued until fairly recently when other fruits were introduced...

Although I must admit I prefer the very sharp marmalade!!!

Well, bread, I love. But bread doesn't need to contain yeast...

What nonsense. Learning to love Marmite changes anyone's life. Seeing that funny awkward, ridiculously shaped jar on your kitchen shelf every day, scraping away at its annoying angles, that mean some is always inevitably left uneaten....of course it changes your life.

I will now admitt to having bought a small jar of marmite and had some on toast, its ok, not something i could snack on constantly or very often, but i think i might like it, might change my mind agin though.

Yep Did you spread it very thinly mini, with plenty of butter/veg oil spread. The proportions do matter...and the toast needs to be properly crispy.
But glad to have you on board.
