Sorry, I shouldn't be assuming you are male. That last comment was on my mind from something else that was going on today and this convo reminded me of that.

Ahh, the sweet whiff of slightly weird desperation. I'd back off and let her make a move if she's interested.

I'm an error, so that proves that point!
I'm coming late to this, but I would say
a) LEAVE her alone. it's you that's fretting because of a situation you have created. If you cant control yourself, she's even more likely to run a mile.
b) This doesn't mean she wont like you, if you can calm down. If she likes you she'll forgive you a fit of nerves.
c) People can say the funniest things when you allow a silence to develop, it's the same with texts. Mabe she has no credit? Maybe she's busy? Dont let other's silences pull you into saying things just to fill the gap. It gives the wrong impression (well, says the wrong things about you anyway!) and doesn't show your best side.
Give it a couple of weeks (not a couple of days) and if you bump into her again, dont bring up her not responding to you. Accusing her of ignoring you wont help your case! Just chat like you did before, it obviously worked in person!
And if she doesn't like you, trying harder wont ever change that. Always a good point to remember!

What I would do if I were a young man?
Relax as others have already said
Read that F***g book meanwhile. She can invite you again to her barbie Q. By then, you may have discovered:
a) the book isn´t worthwhile or too snob or amazing or...whatever. YOu will have something to tell her. Although I wouldn´t mention the bit of snobbery, because if she is a real snob and you intelligent enough, you might be closer to get that bit of a relationship that doesn´t imply anything else but pure carnal knowledge.
Ok it's not fair play but...
b)That being at home alone reading a book is an excellent way of killing loneliness.

"I told her I could do amazing things with my hands"
It sounds really promising, but context is really important to this sensitive message. Can you remember her face? Did she smile?
Relax, man.

Good luck. I was going to suggest that you invite her along with lots of other people to your own BBQ but it sounds like you might be ahead of that one already

Can I just drop in here with a quick and potentially pertinent are-you-a-psycho test? So it seems that you go to a function of some kind, a party, or whatever, where you meet this person. A man, woman, whoever appropriate to your sexual prefernce. You get along well, (s)he gives you a phone number and asks you to call some time. When yopu get home you find you have lost the number. Two days later, you murder your sister. Why?

benjaminpmoore Posted Jul 22, 2008
Oh no, there's a very good reason. The question is, what is going on the mind of the psychopath to make this seem like a good idea?
