turvy (Fetch me my trousers Geoffrey...)

Did you have a trade union steward/rep with you? (Does John Lewis/Waitrose recognise TUs?)

As for the time off with your mum - was it classed as carer leave or emergency family leave. If so you should be able to have the time off and not pay it back. It might be classed as unpaid leave but have a look at company policies. Hope your mum is OK.

Have a look here - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/CaringForSomeone/CarersRights/DG_4001078?CID=DWP&TYPE=Sponsoredsearch&CRE=CarersRights
And here - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/Timeoffandholidays/DG_10026555

Also check ACAS out for their Code of Practice on Discipline and Grievance (it's a big file - 1.59MB) now that the Statutory Procedures have been repealed - http://www.acas.org.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=1047&p=0

t.smiley - ok Remember the smiley - strawberryStrawbs(?Sp.). You can't get me I'm part of the Union. (If only...)

I just created a lovely little spreadsheet to make my foreman's life easier

I love this bit of my job. What's that, you're having a problem organising something? Well, give me an hour... and... how's that?

(these guys are barely computer literate one-finger-typing easily confused mechanics, not office staff, so I have to make sure it's obvious to use and hard to break smiley - smiley)

I *think* it'll work, too!

I got to w*rk on time despite spending most of the night running, crawling and hiding from aliens and other people.

(the aliens were killing people indiscriminately although being under cover/out of sight seemed to help a bit, people were panicking, there was violence, looting etc, and the military were panicking aswell and killing people if they thought they weren't doing what the aliens wanted...)

Ivan - for Father's Day this year I bought my husband a card with a little boy selling tickets to watch his father assemble a flatpack piece of furniture. He laughed so hard, probably because he knows we'll make a fortune out of him if we used the idea...

Victory for today - managed to get this catalogue company I've been a customer of for a few years to take back a faulty item and replace it within less than a week! smiley - smiley
