I think bra cup sizes have changed like other clothes sizes.

Deakie - I can sympathise with you - I'm the same size. Can't ever buy a dress - and if I buy a blouse it has to be a fitted one, and them I have to get out the sewing machine and fit it some more.

btw, for you big ladies out there: my smiley - doctor told me during my recent health-check that if you are of the bigger persuasion, boob wise, you should get regular mamograms because even if you regularly self-check, you might not detect a lump if it is still small enough to be treated.

Has anyone else heard that?

What a Nerd!!! Well done.

The book is excellent. When I read it I was surprised that the priest (mawwage) actually had the rolling of the r's. I had assumed Peter Cook had done it as an affectation.

I have just realised...talking about double points on a thread like this...and mixed with a comment about ice cream...

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

Hadn't been advised of that Sho, but here I think they are loath to pay for a mammogram on the NHS unless breast cancer is in your family or you are over 75.

You girls have seen the stuff on bravissimo right? The dresses and shirts and tops that come in sizes like 14-curvy, 16-supercurvy etc to accomdate boobs properly?

Since having The Boy I'm a bit too big for their sizing sadly, but after #2 when I get my figure back I'll be buying a lot of their dresses...

I was a 34G before having The Boy, shot up to 38L then settled back at 36J for a while. Was heading back down the scale again and had bought a 34J and 36H to try on when I got knocked up again so will make do with what I have until after the baby had finished feeding. Non-wired bras suitable for bfing are RUBBISH as support so will just look like a lumpen mess until sometime in 2010. *sigh*

Up to now I've never been able to afford any of their things, but they have a shop in Leeds don't they? Maybe I'll get there one day.

I do have one of their t-shirt strappy tops that my mum bought me though, the only problem is that when I put it on smiley - chef can't keep his hands off me! smiley - loveblush

oh my I haven't looked there for a while, but smiley - wah most of the strappy tops are sold out. Does anyone know anywhere else you can get things like that? But they do have one gorgeous dress. I'm going to have to speak very nicely to my mum and ask her to order one for me.

sorry for triple posting

Kelli - the main thing with bf bras is access, they don't seem to think about anything else unfortunately. I found it quite painful at times, and mine were "only" about a FF

Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune

As a 38DD/E I dont consider myself huge (I have friends with far larger) but big enough, and I definitely do up behind. I was taught to swivel and flip but I soon taught myself to just do it by feel behind... Much easier and hugely preferable to trying to swivel a bra on damp skin i.e. out of the pool or shower!

Hi Kelli,
"here I think they are loath to pay for a mamogram on the NHS unless breast cancer is in your family or you are over 75"

smiley - cross
THat is just absurd. How a modern civilized rich country can't care for its women?
breast cancer is not a joke. It is a cancer, unlike many others, that can be cured, it can dissappear, fortunately

BUT

if it is catched on time!!. Mammography is the way to prevent not only suffering but death.

How can it be possible such despise towards women?

It is not expensive, and even if it was, it is not worthy to prevent a certain death if you can?!!!smiley - steam

Could anyone imagine that vaccines were denied to children??!!!
It is just the same.

In Spain, you can ask for a mammography since you are 35 years old.
Sanitary authorities RECOMMEND women to have it every two years. Expenses are covered by our NHS .
The same recommendation is for citology. The doctor takes a sample of mucus from the uterus to be analyzed. I'm 41 and have already both tests done.
Next year I'll have them again.

***
Sho, I havent heard about that, but it sounds logic that self-exploration isn't enough to detect a possible lump if your breast is voluminous.

take care, girls smiley - rose

A bit more about female health ( the smiley - nurse inside me speaks)

I was given a leaflet( I can't find it nowsmiley - sadface) in hospital after giving birth named "What a woman must know about her body". I can tell you something which was really GOOD for me to know.

Probably you know the Kegel exercices. They are not only to improve your sexual satisfaction, they are VERY important to prevent the womb prolapse. Perineal muscles help to mantain the belly and its "inside" in the proper place.

Not to mention the involuntary wee...smiley - run
and many other benefits.

Some women use cones to do those exercices.

I go every other year (my doc told me it should be every year but to be honest I hardly ever rember until my well woman check - then he nags at me until I cave in and make an appointment)

Last time I went the doc did a manual exam, found a lump and sent me for a mamogram. I had it within 2 days but for that time I was a hysterical mess. It was nothing - nothing even there, but it does reinforce my belief that my smiley - doctor is right.

Deb

My mum started getting them regularly through our doctor's when she turned 50 (8 years ago). So maybe it depends on your local health authority? (I'm UK, South Staffs)

I'm 41 and have already had one because my company have offered us a Bupa healthcheck every 3 years and they offer mammograms over 40.

dragonqueen - eternally free and forever untamed - insomniac extraordinaire - proprietrix of a bullwhip, badger button and (partly) of a thoroughly used sub with a purple collar. Matron of Honour.

Unless there are anything in your (or immediate family's) history that states otherwise, a Papsmear (cervical cytology) every 2nd to 3rd year from age 20 and a mammogram biannually from age 40 is recommendable.

Unfortunately many young women don't do their Papsmears on a regular basis. Cervical cancer might not be a major cause of death in the industrial part of the world, but seen worldwide it's a major cause of death for women.

I stopped having them when my smiley - doctor stopped doing them and delegated it to the nurses.

I had a general exam at a clinic last year and I'm sure they used a shovel. It's put me off anyone but my lovely doctor doing it.

It was TPB film 20 year anniversary last year. I can't understand why there weren't national celebrations and special screenings and so on.

Not if you're a J, no. But compared to AA it is. I suppose that would make me medium size, then smiley - tongueout They just *look* huge.

>>>> I think bra cup sizes have changed like other clothes sizes.

That's unfortunate. Because of inconsistent sizing conventions, we may be comparing apples and oranges. Or melons.

So far these competing hypotheses have been suggested:

1. Women with big busts fasten in front and swivel, and the others fasten in back.
2. Women with small busts fasten in front and swivel, and the others fasten in back.
3. Women wearing bras with under-wires don't swivel.
4. Oh yes, they do.
5. Women tend to fasten their bras using the technique they first learned.
