Sorry I want something totally new and Star Trek has just become a cash cow. Many of the plotlines are poor and it's got to have more than a feel good factor to it for me to carry on watching.

I have said it before on here i would perfer to watch a show with a good story then a show with good f/x who cares that in all good things the f/x are great but the story does not work out.
Or in the film I.D.4 the scriped was rubbish but the f/x were great all i can think is what they could have made with a great plot a great scriped and all that money is a film that would look great and be great for years to come i watched a film the other day from the 60's that was remade in the 90's the new film looks old the old film is still a great movie because it does not think this bit needs a great f/x to look good it has to have a better scriped and better plot as the f/x are not that good.
can anyone think of a film that was remade with better f/x that was as good as the first film.

Timelord, to the question you asked about a remade movie...I cant think of any thing, but a movie that i can think of that the effects were the main focus was Star Wars, the blah blah blah... any way I guess my point is that I've been dissapointed with all of the sci-fi shows lately. Thats all I think I'll say on that point......for now any way.

I rather fancy that it is Einsteinian, as in all relative.
I'm likely to have a fondness for the version I saw first, so if I saw a re-make before seeing the original, then I would probably prefer the remake and vice versa. (Sorry I rather laboured that one.)
For instance, I was quite impressed with h2g2 TV graphics even though I couldn't keep pace with them, but, over all, I thought the scenery and F/X on the radio version were far superior.
That's just a child of the radio era speaking.
Anyone for "Jennings" or "Toytown".
Goodnight Uncle Mac, everywhere.

As far as star trek goes, they need a couple of good writers, the last voyager epsiode i saw had a good plot, but there winding down. There are only so many things you can actually do. Bot with a few good wrtiers, star trek can keep on trekkin.

Star Trek shall always be one off the rulling as far as i'm concerned.
Althoug i have to say that the f/x and story's are getting to sleek.
In the origanel movie's of star wars the f/x where real now the are renderd in real time.
They say it's progress for beter or wurse

For those interested {like me}
ANDROMEDA commences on Sky One on October 9th, it's written by Gene Roddenbury & stars Kevin Sorbo...from the ad I saw today, it looks out of this world!

He's dead, Jim. You grab his tricorder, and I'll get his wallet.
Andromeda looks like it will be Hercules in space. Let's face it, Sorbo has been stereo typed...

Hi everyone! (off topic)
Re: Andromeda-I may tune in to see what the latest Roddenberry franchise is all about, but my hopes aren't high for it. I do enjoy sharing information, though. (AGB (and everyone else interested in 'Andromeda'): Sorbo's supposedly been in suspended animation for 300 years, awakens to find his crew gone/dead/pick your own plot device, and meets a ragtag bunch of misfits with whom he now must (take a wild guess) save the universe. Enjoy!) (/off topic)

Two ways to look at it:
Tricorders, being property of Starfleet, need to be returned to service. Just because Ensign Expendible was reduced to rice pudding, doesn't mean you dump valuable equipment here and there. Personal effects *should* be returned to next of kin. Thus, it is all done with good intentions.
Or...
Being a Ferengi at heart, it is mearly taking advantage of the situation to increase my personal holdings. No sense getting sentimental about it. He's dead. What good is that stuff to him? It should go to a good home, someone who will take care of it, and put it to good use, and with proper inventments and managment, turn a nice profit. I am sure there must be a Rule of Aquisition for it somewhere.

Um...It sounds like Cleopatra in space, without the bare mid riffs.

Paladin of the Lost Hour Posted Sep 30, 2000
Come now, don't be discouraged! Andromeda being a Roddenberry creation, the Captain is required to have a ripped shirt and/or bare chest at some point! What goes better with bare chests than bare mid riffs? Galaxy Babe, you listening?

*ears pricking*
erm...YES!!!!
I heard that!
However, I am a little reticent at the thought of "suspended animation" being regurgitated..."Buck Rogers" springs immediately to mind, *hastily reburied in the archive*
BUT I must say, ripped shirts & bare midriffs sounds mighty fine to me, hopefully relating to Kevin Sorbo!

With trek ds9, what should of happened with the dominion war was that the jem'hadar should of overpowered starfleet et all, and the survivors forced to fight and live like the rebels in star wars.
I think that would of been really great, secret bases, star ships hiding in asteroid fields to avoid capture by the 'hadar desperate phaser battles against overwhelming odds, fantastic!!!
..........Hang on thats battle star galactica isnt it?
