My you're a cynical lot! I know it was described as " the increasingly inaccurate trilogy..." But even I'd be pushed to say if it was 4 or 5. Does the salmon of doubt count or not?

I'm incredibly cynical, I've met too many politicians.

The thing is, get them away from their media advisors and personal assistants, and they're usually really nice folk. But they seem to forget all that when they're told how to act, and that's all it seems these days, acting.

It's probably only a matter of time before Britain and Spain start fighting over Gibralter - handbags at ten paces:

Neither country can afford a war.

However, the cynic in me once again starts thinking that there always seems to be money for wars. And when wars are on people are less likely to notice deprivation at home.

Roger Waters' album What God Wants covers it very well.

"North and Midlands councils 'hit hardest by cuts'" reads the headline, and the article goes on about how much person the cities up north are losing compared to those down south.

What the article doesn't mention is that pretty much every one of these councils is a Labour council. And that pretty much every one of these councils, for many years had extra handouts from central government. And that pretty much every one of these councils became reliant on that extra money to function, because they were wasting it all.
The "good times" stopped, the tories got in, the money's being slowly withdrawn. It just so happens that these 'hardest hit' councils actually had more to lose in the first place.

The story could easily read "Those with most pay more" which is in effect what's happening, and everyone would think "Too right!" But it doesn't, because the whole report is done by a Special Interest Group. "Special Interest Group" ? Basically it's a lobbying company for its clients.

THIS IS NOT NEWS!! This is whining little s***s spending even more tax payers money complaining that their party's over. It's spending like this that has caused the party to be over.smiley - sigh

In fairness, and if we're talking about being cynical, it *is* kind of a career for people who can make you think that. smiley - winkeye That's why actors and politicians have both studied rhetoric for centuries, after all. The two jobs have a lot in common.

Just along the road from me, two magnificent sculptures have just been completed. They are huge and quite stunning - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-25108514

With ref to Pastey's story about cuts, I notice the headline of the link to the story on the BBC news page is "Southern councils 'face fewer cuts'". My, the BBC do like to hammer home their message don't they?

Maybe I'm getting a different headline because I'm in the north?

Basically, it's shoddy scaremongering reporting based on a biased political points scoring report.

I'm very disappointed in the BBC for running that.

SWL- The images of those sculptures do look very impressive, I'd love to see them.

I was wondering if you knew that the ancient Greeks used to depict a chariot with two horses, with one horse rearing it's head. The charioteer's attempt to control the two horses was meant to symbolise man's attempt to master reason over emotion.

Bijan Ebrahimi's murderer sentenced to a minimum of 18 years.

An utterly shameful series of events including bullying and racism leading to the brutal murder of an innocent man by a bigoted, drunken, moron. 'Tell my daughters I did it for them'. No. Tell them you did it because you are thick.
