You've been watching too much old Star Trek, ~jwf~, particularly 'The Immunity Syndrome': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Immunity_Syndrome_%28Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series%29

My point exactly!
That cell had a membrane skin and a nucleus and not much more.
Now we know there's a whole lot more to it.
And don't be dissing the Trek. We all got flip phones now. eh.
And somebody is working on a medical tricorder that can diagnose
just about anything without sending stuff to a lab for analysis.
(A much needed tool in undeveloped countries.)

Hey, I'm not dissing Star Trek.
I'm dissing you!
I remember reading a number of years ago about a Canadian company which built a hand-held device which did something like measuring temperature, humidity, electromagnetic fields, etc. all at once. When they discovered that Rodenberry had put a clause in his deal with Paramount which prevented the studio from pursuing legal action against companies which might actually one day produce the equivalent of Star Trek technology, even using the Star Trek name of that technology, the Canadian manufacture called there product the 'Tricorder Mark One'.
That was a long sentence.
Oh. Here it is: http://www.stim.com/Stim-x/0996September/Sparky/tricorder.html

A plague of locusts could possibly decimate crops in Victoria, but their biggest concern seems to be that a horse race might not happen.

Mr Sarkozy told a news conference that Chancellor Merkel had said to him that she intended to follow France's example in dismantling Roma camps.
Mrs Merkel's spokesman denies, however, that she discussed the issue with Mr Sarkozy.

While I normally would not refer anybody to Fox "News" on purpose, this is just too good to let it go by unremarked.

"Christine O'Donnell, the new star of the religious right and not a woman to beat about the bush, claims masturbation is a sin. In a non sequitur from the 90s, O'Donnell declared: "The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery. So you can't masturbate without lust.""

Southern Railway to axe toilets from new train fleet
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-11358844
"RMT general secretary Bob Crow called the move "unacceptable" and said it runs the risk of turning carriages into "stinking cattle trucks" creating appalling conditions for passengers and staff."
Ri-ight. So having no toilet means travellers will urinate and/or defecate in the carriages? Or maybe he's thinking of his members?

So you have never been on public transport where passengers have used things as an impromputu toilet? I have, and it is horrible.
I agree that it is totally ridiculous to not have bogs on trains.
