Well just seen Prometheus.

Alien films - certainly the first two - are amongst my favourites.

So I was giddy before seeing this.

Now I'm in heaven.

I think I want have Ridley Scott's babies.

I'm almost crying with the pleasure of that. Just awesome!

Just got back from Prometheus: I really suck with horror so I really didn't enjoy those bits but the universe-building, the philosophy/theology themes were really powerful and Rapace did a great job with it.

The final scene was moving and I'm hoping for a sequel, something which almost never happens.

Watched "The Grey" last night - it's been years since I experienced a real "jump out of my skin" moment, but that film got me twice. After so many films and nature documentaries trying to anthropomorphisise wolves and make out they're maligned and misunderstood creatures, it's refreshing to see a film showing them to be scary as hell killing machines.

I recently learned that wolves are (in addition to being killing machines) extremely interesting in numbers of ways. Apparently they can gauge when their victim has the most adrenaline in them, so that they benefit from it when feasting. And they have complicated ways to make their packs sound more powerful than they really are, by allocating various calls to different members; for example, one will just make assorted yipping sounds, in order to sound like several wolves.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Prometheus. Awesome film. Yes it has some dodgy active, clunky dialogue, and plot holes you could drive a London bus through... but it was still awesome.

smiley - grr that should be 'acting' not 'active'. In my defence I am kinda sleepy.

Saw Snow White and the Huntsman this afternoon and really enjoyed it. It's a really good-looking film with impressive CGI and some lovely visual touches.

Kristen Stewart (her off of Twilight) really can't act but it's not a problem as the film-makers (wisely) give her very little to do. The other cast do a decent job and Chris Hemsworth is becoming one of my favourite actors.

London Boulevard with Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley. A pitch-black love story between a movie star and her criminal bodyguard. Sounds like the most preposterous plot line ever but turns out to be an acute dissection of life under Murdoch.

watched TT 3D Closer to the Edge, a bit so-so really. I think part of the
reason is I had just watched the TT on ITV4.

That was a lot of acronyms. What is TT?

MiB3. Very good, and unexpectedly funny.

Flying again...
Haywire: sort of a female James Bond, martial arts, trying to be as complex as Tinker, Tailor. I got a bit tired of seeing a woman being punched in the face.
Puss in Boots: so-so but I wasn't watching with a child or live audience so I'm not sure how it would improve with more audience reaction.
Contraband: I quite liked the pace of this but the story line didn't work for me.
The Artiste: It was OK, but again it would have been a better experience with a live audience.

Odd isn't it how we see things differently quotes.

I saw MiB3 last week and thought it was dull and lacking in humour. (There may have been one joke but I missed it).

Pink Paisley, it was written by Ethan Coen, so perhaps my familiarity with Coen Brothers films predisposes me to appreciate their humour. They don't use many 'jokes'.

Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor

Just been to see The Hunger Games for the 2nd time, this time taking my partner along. He has been raving about it since and is eager for more. I've told him I've read all three books, but won't be spoiling the next instalment for him. I can't wait for "Catching Fire".

Recently I've seen Dark Shadows (slow burner but another winner for Tim Burton) and Top Cat, which was really disappointing. The plotline was terrible, the animation had lots of errors and was more like the work of an amateur than a professional studio. The worst part was the CGI backgrounds with the characters done in Flash smiley - yuk
