"Geroge Lucas in Love" (1999). We have a team getting ready for the "48 Hour Film Contest", so we watched some shorts to see what we can learn. This nine minute comedy is pretty funny, especially if you can remember the first "Star Wars" and "Shakespeare in Love", two of my favorites.

And this 2 minute mock PSA (public service announcement) may be the funniest movie ever made for $7:

Brilliant!
Coincidentally I watched the Family Guy Star Wars pastiche "Blue Harvest" last night. I laughed like a child.
"Aren't you a little fat to be a stormtrooper?"
"Fine, stay here and rot you stuck-up bitch!"

Well, I watched Infestation. Sort of. I managed about 12 minutes. That's about one per pence of my original estimation of the budget, which turned out to be shockingly accurate. I like B pictures, and I've seen a film that makes a bid for "best fil'um evar!!" made for $20,000 and by about six people. I'm just making it clear I am a fan of the low budget, cheesy, tat, shlock, exploitation and general independent type cinema here before I tell you Infestation is sh*t. Infestation provided me with the most truly pestilential 12 minutes of cinema I've ever seen. I'm not a walker, I'll normally only stop watching a film if it suddenly contains Ben Affleck. The introduction to this film makes Swept Away seem good. Am I targeting hot jets of chyme-like invective at this film because I am at work on a sunny bank holiday Monday? Or because I'm not 100% sure how to spell catarrhal? Respectively No and Maybe.
I watched Halloween and The Descent instead

As it was a Bank holiday weekend, and the good ol' beeb had forecast lashings of rain, gales and hail, we planned to go to the cinema today.
Of course, the BBC couldn't forecast their way out of a paper bag, as became apparent when I woke this morning to sunshine and blue skies. Nevertheless, we stuck to the original plan and went to see In Bruges.
It's set in Bruges , and concerns a pair of British gangland hitmen. Except they're Irish. They have witty banter, in the style of Irishmen. There's a lot of saying ****ing this and **** that, and towards the end there's some quite good shooty bits. That's why it got an 18. The shots of Bruges are pretty good, too.
Generally pretty good, but ultimately no overriding reason why seeing at the cinema would make it any better than waiting for the DVD. Or Film4, for that matter, as it's likely to be on that before the year's out, seeing as it's one of theirs. Do watch out for it though, as it's a good British gangster film, which sometimes we manage to pull off successfully.

Hmmm
May I say I went to see In Bruges this morning on personal recommendation by a so-called "friend" and hated it.
A chick-flick it ain't so go for it, you lovers of shoot-em-up films, political incorrectness and gratuitous swearing - just don't take the girlfriend.
Only thing it had going for it was the scenery.

Well, Reddyfreddy, in spite of our theory that I'll dislike anything you enjoy and vice versa... partly based on your description, I'm going to watch this one, eventually. It sounds pretty good!
Though I think I'll take your point that it needn't be watched on a big screen, and might wait for a Netflix release. Which could be a while. Though we do have a half dozen movie passes to use up...

Oi! If my old man goes to see it without me, I will be mightily hacked-off .

I hated Temple of Doom, which my son loves the most
I have the three-disc box set and have watched 1 & 3 many times, I'd buy 4 and probably watch it as much. I saw a trailer for the next Mummy film and now I'm impatiently for that.
