Yes, on the Isle of White, but no association with food. You might get away with Morecombe Bay Potted Shrimps, but I doubt it. I dont think there is anything special about shortbread from Edinburgh, stick to rock. Arbroath smokies are, btw, wonderful. wonderful. wonderful. The best possible breakfast, with scrambled eggs. wonderful.

Yes JK. They are sweet buns with a crunchy sugar coating. If you really, really want to know try
http://www.hwatson.force9.co.uk/cookbook/recipes/baking/bathbuns.htm
which notes an interesting link to Bath Olivers, which are plain dry biscuits available in your local supermarket.
Slooooowww down!

(Can't a girl take a cappuccino break without a million postings to the thread!)
My chocolate choux bun was not a profiterole - it was just like a large, round eclair.
Bath buns I don't know, but I am rather partial to Belgian buns.
May I suggest:
A - American Pie

I find the construction of food names and descriptions entertaining and without logic:-
chocolate biscuits - biscuits made with chocolate
dog biscuits - biscuits for dogs (not made from dogs)
Garibaldi biscuits - buscuits made with dead flies
Nice biscuits - which aren't nice at all
sea food - food made with water creatures
fish food - food made for fish

Kaeori, we're pushing on for 10,000 postings before tea-time

N0000000000oooooooooo............ not flippin' dogs again. Can we not have a civilised debate about the respective merits of Arbroath smokies and Manx kippers? And could we not agree that anybody who causes the debate to degenerate by mentioning 'thingy'fish be virtually flayed alive. I make no apology for being dogmat... whoops.

Do manx kippers have tails? I ask for information only.

I know it was a while back but Pheroneous, what do you mean you mis-judged my sex? What did you think I was? I am female by the way!!
As for regional food, how about I used to have lardy cake when I was younger, but that was in Dorset. Bath buns do exist, there is a specialy bakery dedicated to them in the city. They are supposed to world famouse, but clearly they aren't! I know this isn't British but how about Danish Pastery? That is the yummiest cake (appart from Donuts!) I have had in a long time.

Nikki-D - love the list. But 10,000 before tea time? I think it will take at least till the end of the week. Just imagine, they'll be 500 red dots!
V&A - you must forgive Pheroneous, he clearly didn't realise that 'Vodka and apple' is only ever used in the feminine. Though as a teetotaller, may I suggest you consider 'diet decaf coke and apple'. DDC&A - see, it just rolls off the tongue.
Just to show off my northen cake influences:
Eccles cake
Yorkshire parkin

Sex (Now we're talking)
Pheroneous Posted Oct 17, 2000
Once upon a time, when first I came to this place, I got involved on h2g2 in a long discussion about 'understanding the opposite sex' (thread 'Define your terms') which was all about stereotypes and categorisation etc etc. Very interesting it was too. One point that I remembered was that if a researcher did not define their gender, then it was impolite to assume a gender. You obviously, are a drink (sexless) or, by nickname, a museum (also sexless). Therefore by referring to you as 'she' (she named it twice) I was being impolite, and therefore apologised. Now that you have declared your sexuality, I am liberated from the self-imposed constraint, and will freely assign to you the female gender, with all the stereotyping that involves.
Danes are nice polite people, so I think we can accept their cakes. Dunkins, however, are not.

There aren't really any regional 'delicacies' from where I am. Berkshire. Just imagine the delightful dishes from there!! We don't have any. People in the home counties (as far as I know) eat the food of other regions. Probubly because we are all too lazy to come up with anything!!
As for my name, coke and apple juice mixed wouldn't be that nice. Vodka and apple juice on the other hand tastes lovely and is my favorite (alcaholic)drink.

You leave my donuts out of it!
(A thing I don't say too often )
Surely Kansas has produced some typical foodstuff! Otherwise its "Kentucky fried chicken" for K, and that isn't good at all.
