French's mustard is definitely YELLOW and mostly vinegary, not like *real* mustard at all. Quite insipid really.

In a lot of the northern states they also have a dark mustard commonly available, with much more flavour. It's an option at baseball stadiums and has it's roots in German immigrants. How do I know this? There was a reference to it in the film *2010* and I sought it out the next time I was in Chicago at a Cubs game (1987).
I don't know if I'm a nerd for knowing this or a jock for going to the game...

Why be one or the other when you can be both
I have been to every curry house in Smethwick and have the underwear to prove it.

I've been to a curry house in Oslo where all they had was curried herring and curried reindeer!
Sadly my underwear from that time is no longer with us......

I'm disppointed to discover that the makers of Colman's English Dru Mustard are the perpetrators of that neon yellow crud, French's.

Lets make that "disappointed" and "Dry", shall we?
I know, it's 3 am, get to bed -- but if I sleep, I might miss something!

I have this picture in my head of cyber-archeoligists in some distant future who comb thru these old threads for clues to life in the early 21st century. So, for the record let me note here that Canada is currently considering whether on not to lay charges against Michael Moore for several high profile comments he made in this country just prior to our recent federal elections.
The Canada Elections Act provides that anyone "resident of another country who is not a Canadian citizen who tries to influence the outcome of a Canadian election" is guilty of a serious criminal offense.
He came here about two weeks prior to our voting to do a quick series of man-on-the-street interviews about our democratic process. He quickly became embroiled in the issues and whenever local media asked about this 'new movie on democracy' he took the opportunity to speak out on national television.
He used this 'free air time' to call the Conservative party a bunch of fascists. In his usual colorful way he would suggest that anyone stupid enough to vote Conservative was an idiot and possibly a traitor to Truth, Love and Peace.
The law provides that a Canadian may say what he likes during an election but a 'person resident of another country, who is not a Canadian citizen, who tries to influence the outcome' of our democratic process is a criminal alien.
'Criminal alien', I couldn't have said it better myself.

So who won? (the election I mean).

Well the fact is, most Canadians agree with MM that the Conservatives are a right-wing gang of power-mongering opportunists who cash in on the paranoia of the puritan witch-hunting mentality by making fear mongering threats about the fall of man and societal values while promising to crush the evil-doers and cut taxes for the rich (just like in the US).
So we were obliged to return a minority government, allowing the Liberals to continue their reign of self-indulgent corruption and interference in the works of honest men.
Distribution of seats is based on a complex formula and the Liberals won the most but not a clear majority. Overall the popular vote went left to the New Democratics who did much better than evidenced by the 19 seats they actually won. Even the new Green party got 3% of the popular vote nationwide, failing to gain any seats but achieving official status.
Of course Quebec elected Separatists to some 54 of their 63 seats. Their mission as always is to use the federal system to gain special favours and privileges for the Quebecois and perhaps one day legally leave the federal system.
It's a funny old country, founded by a drunken Scot and a self righteous Quebecois paysant who agreed that by working together instead of against each other, they could take advantage of Queen Victoria. Like robbers splitting the loot there's been nothing but compromise ever since. It's become our schitzophrenic personality and made us very iconoclastic and not that keen on hypocrisy even as we became expert at fooling everyone but ourselves.
