Is crusty mustard edible?
Is speech free?
Let's meet in the middle, free mustard for eating words.
*once again wishing for a time machine*

well, it would still be right now. I just wouldn't have to worry about appointments and such. um, then again maybe i'd be more worried about making appointments... *carefully reconsidering wish, wondering if that wish would be different if say among time travels a free genie gave some well intentioned advice... hmmm*
Funny how the little things can become so complex. Not so much funny as baffaling. *reconsiders again*
It would be oh five oh six ish.

Time machines would only be able to go into the future not the past since changing the past could alter time itself and thus you or the machine. Which means you could go into the future, get a paper and make a million when you go back....wait, you can only go forward...OK, OK...you could go forward constantly and this would be an advantage because....wait a minute...OK, I want a genie!!

Ben, that's wonderful! I wish I had spotted that when it was new.
Btw, mayonnaise? What about raw oysters or habanero peppers? You really don't believe that someone thought they could be eaten before someone from the future saying it was OK, do you?

An excellent Edited Guide entry Ben. Congratulations and thanks for pointing it out. Much enjoyed.
That said, if I can be a little picky about it long after the fact:
Atlantis may well have been an anachronism, a full-fledged corruption of our pre-historic earth by future beings, but it is totally naive to suggest that its drowning was a deliberate or willful act by conscientious time-travelling Atlantians who realised their experiment was harmful to the hairy apes who were our forebears.
I'm afraid that kind of altruistic self sacrifice for the good of the planet is something the human race has not been capable of since the advent of the steam engine and the race really was on to see who was fastest or had the most toys.
No, I think you'll find those Atlantian mad-scientist time-travellers who thought they could escape the future by spoiling our past were smitten by the hand of a loving god who had a real thing for hairy apes and wanted to see what they do with just fire, wood and stones.
And even he gave up when the best they could come up with was a catapult for hurling fire and rocks at people they didn't like.
For the record I'd like to declare this thread officially off topic.

Hell, ~jwf~, you can be picky *before* the fact too, if you like!
(And a for clZ as well, *how* I wish I had made it to Canada, and *why* do you have to live next to opposite Oceans?)

yeah, i'd have to agree with the off-topicality of this conversation. I do wonder if the vegan mayo is as complicated as the egg kind?
Fascinating.
What was the question again?
*remembering that the movie in question contained much detail and should be seen again by himself*

Vegan mayo?????
It always amazes me that people will take the over-processed effluence from the petrochemical industry, and take it into their bodies, all in the name of 'health'!

Ben, a casual reader might just assume that you're ignorant of vegans' predilection for making everything from tofu. However, through the use of analytical techniques normally reserved for the dissection of Nostradamus' quatrains, an exceptionally accurate postdiction of David Mellor's career and fall from grace clearly emerges. Even an amateur can see the allusion to his stint as Minister for Health, but it takes a trained eye to correctly decipher the phrase "over-processed effluence from the petrochemical industry" not merely as a reference to his tenure as Secretary of State for Energy, but also as a reference to his idiosyncratic and much remarked upon hair-care regimen. Once we move on to linguistic and numerological study, we are left in no doubt: not only is "Vegan mayo" a reversal of the Sanskrit phrase "oyamna gev", meaning "suckling at the foot", but the sum of the character values of the text (excluding punctuation) divided by 606 is exactly equal to CHELSEA and the square root of ANTONIA DE SANCHA.

"Linda Ronstadt banned for tribute to Michael Moore"

"The American singer Linda Ronstadt got a taste of the acrimony of this polarised election year in the US when she was escorted from a Las Vegas casino after she had dedicated a song to the filmmaker Michael Moore."
