'I'm glad that worked, those would have been terrible last words'
Yes, I liked those two, although the doctor had, I though, a rather syrupy good-old-england speech that only worked because Christopher Eccleston pulled it off. Likewise Girl in the Mirror, another of my favourites
'They're just nightmares, things that go bump in the night. Even they have nightmares'
'What do they have nightmares about?'
'Me'

The worst 'new' episode has got to be 'Fear Her'. I thought that 'Love and Monsters' was rather entertaining but I agree that the end was silly. On the Davros front, I can't think of anyone to play him but I did wonder if Adam (I think that was his name) from 'Dalek' could, in some strange way, end up becoming Davros (eye in the forehead, etc). No? Fair enough. I also heard that the contract to use the Daleks when Who came back ran for three years (ie until now) so it is possible that they won't be back for a while.

Secretly Not Here Any More Posted May 4, 2007
Having spent today watching "Revelation of The Daleks" on DVD and "Evolution of the Daleks" on BBC3, I have to say that I prefer the latter.
For a start the voices are much less like Zippy from Rainbow, and (if this isn't being a bit geekish over a prop) they seem much more like actual beings. The bit where the Cult of Skaro are mooching around under a ladder conspiring against Sek was fantastic. The look over the 'shoulder' followed by huddling together just reminded me of two sentries in any war film you care to mention moaning about a bad commanding officer.
As for 'overuse', I think that any time a pop culture icon of the past is used, people who remember it from the first time round won't be happy. But is Daleks 'skulking round in a sewer' really worse than Mr. T in a tank throwing chocolate bars at people's heads?
I think we might not have seen the best of the Daleks in 'new' Who yet. After all, as DT said, they're most dangerous when they're vulnerable.

Did Revelation of the Daleks have the human-dalek computer? So they can make use of 'human creativity'? Urgh...
Am I getting muddled or was it also the first instance of a dalek climbing stairs? On the band of light. Now that was a moment worth milking .
I would love to see an episode where unresourceful humans, dull-witted, bureaucratic and demonstrating a stubborn refusal to adapt, are beaten up by some plucky rebel aliens with a really cunning yet daring trick.
Or maybe one where the clumsy, blundering system wins through with its sheer size, relentlessness and concentration of power.
Having said all that, the dalek in Dalek was pretty damn creative.

Both of those were from 1988's "Remembrance of the Daleks" which I haven't seen since around the time it was first broadcast. A dalek (and Davros) were shown floating in "Revelation..." but not climbing stairs.

The dalek voices are *terrible* in "Revelation..." as is most of the acting. The nasty resolution Davros puts-together for the shy girl and the sleazy womaniser she's desperately in love with is ruined by the terrible acting. I agree about the daleks being more like "beings" in "Evolution..." but that's because they had been given more to do as characters. One of the main objections to the way Davros was used in the old series was that he always seemed reduce the daleks to the status of henchmen.

After having read an entry on here about Paradox Faction, I would love to see them showing up in the series.

I loved todays episode, he didn't just use the sonic screwdriver all the way through. The writers do overuse the sonic screwdriver rather than being creative at all, I feel.

I thought this week's was pretty good, certainly better than the dalek two-parter. The CGI monster was a bit poor (terrible face reminiscent of The Scorpion King from "The Mummy Returns" and I think the splitting-chin fangs-thing was pinched from "Blade 2") but the story wasn't too bad, the prosthetics were good, the script commendably treated the viewers as having some sort of intelligence and Mark Gatiss is clearly brilliant and deserves kudos for getting nude on prime-time Saturday-night telly.
Regarding the "Coming Soon" trailer, did anyone else find the most intriguing bit the short scene with Saxon (I assume) wearing an oxygen mask and tapping-out a rhythm on the table with his hand? Seriously creepy and not in the usual "something might go "BOO!"" way that's usually meant, seriously creepy in a proper, weird, disturbing way.

That ending with Saxon completely freaked me out. Really looking forward to the finale, looks like its going to be spectacular.
I think that might be the problem, when Who's good its soooo good that it shows up all the more when its just okay.

The phone-call bit or the "Coming Soon" tap-tap-tap bit?

I have managed to train my family *not* to talk through the "coming soon" bit at the end - but we *all* screamed with delight to see . I'm assuming that was highlights to the end of the series, not just the next story.
How many stories so far this season have been about regeneration?

I agree the second part of the Darlek story wasn’t as good as the first, but the Darleks are brilliant.
But they wouldn’t gravitate to Newyork as London is bigger.
This weeks episode was fantastic.

Yesterday was excellent. Good to see Mark Gatiss at his smarmsome best, even before the choppy Fly rip-off kicked in.
SPOILER WARNING - clicky F19585?thread=4101548&skip=77&show=20 to avoid (when there's something there)
Having established that Mister Saxon = Master No. Six, I factored in his first name to discover Mister Harold Saxon = Rash Timelord On Sax.
So it looks like we can expect some woodwind-based evil in future episodes.
