Come we go burn down Babylon one more time
Come we go chant down Babylon one more time
For them soft! yes, them soft!
Them soft! yes, them soft!
So come we go chant down Babylon one more time
Makes a change from The Quangle Wangle.

Is it really true that Utoob music files are now being blocked in the UK? As a Canadian who is often denied access to BBC links and many US sources ("Not available in your region") I sympathise greatly.

"In Rastafarian ideology both Babylon and Rome are also equated with this modern world in which we live. The Rastas have popularized the name Babylon to refer to what they see as the fundamentally evil modern society."
Yeah mon. Me think so too. Tcchh! When me become Muslim, man, me know what it feel like to be black.

yep, warner. Just like being black.
' Muslim war protesters disrupted a homecoming parade for British troops Tuesday, with one preacher praising the disruption and branding the homecoming a "vile parade" of "brutal murderers" whom he likened to Nazis, the Daily Mail reported.
Anjem Choudary mocked the parade for the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment in Luton, England, by posting a message on an Islamic extremist Web site joking about British soldiers killed by friendly fire in Iraq.
Choudary called the troops cowards who have an "uncanny knack for death by friendly fire," the Mail reported.
He leads the group Islam for the U.K., an organization trying to make Britain an Islamic state ruled by Shariah law.
British officials condemned Tuesday's protests, where 200 troops were met with hate-filled cheers and signs reading, "Anglian soldiers: Butchers of Basra," and "Anglian soldiers: cowards, killers, extremists."
It was revealed Wednesday that the protests were organized by an extremist group directly linked to banned Muslim cleric Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed.
Bakri, 51, said he was proud of the protesters but denied organizing the demonstration, the Mail reported.'

At least Dr. Muhammed Abdul Bari and the Muslim Council of Britain know that Muslims have it good in the West:
'The Muslim Council of Britain said in a statement it was appalled at reports of the abuse, adding that the actions of the protesters provided "fodder for Islamophobes keen to drive a wedge between Britons".
Secretary General Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari said British soldiers were "simply carrying out orders on behalf of the government of the day".
"They have endured and sacrificed much and we are glad they are back home," he said. '

anhaga,
Yeah, I saw about that on the news. I don't agree with "heckling", and don't think any of the apostles would have approved. But that's politics for you.
When I first attended a mosque, I was invited by a converted west-indian muslim of jewish descent. He was responsible for bringing hundreds of his people from Handsworth in Birmingham to Islam. They were mostly converts from rastafarianism. There was a couple of 'whiteies' like myself amongst them.

Hey, warner:
(for the moment)
I just read something that I find quite interesting and I think it is quite relevant to much of this thread. I'd encourage all of us to read it with an open mind:
http://reallivepreacher.com/node/1327
I was particularly struck with the final words, which are quite close to arguments I've made on Hootoo a great many times:
'I think we’re all going to have to experience a similar worldview cataclysm, and that right soon. I don’t care what your scriptures or sacred writings are: The Bible, The Koran, The Origin of Species, or The Humanist Manifesto. Those walls cannot divide us anymore. The only division that matters is the one between those who will work together with people of other cultures and beliefs with respect and dignity and and those who won’t.
And don’t fool yourself. You who practice religious exclusivism quietly in your own neighborhoods are the butterflies that cause the storms on the other side of the world.
You are, to use a phrase I heard from our new president, on the wrong side of history.'
The only concern I have is that he doesn't confront the question of what those who are willing to work together with respect and dignity are to do about those others who are intent on inflicting disrespect, indignity and death on everyone who isn't part of their group. It is a dilemma: I am willing to tolerate all sorts of lifestyles, beliefs, faiths, and dietary restrictions, but why should I tolerate intolerance?
again, warner: I don't want to fight. But I also don't want to be told that I'm evil, that people like me are the reason the world is in decay, or that the evidence of my senses is nothing beside the evidence of some old book. My gut feeling is that I don't really care if you or anyone else wants to 'practice religious exclusivism quietly in your own neighborhoods', but my reason asks, what storms will be stirred by it on the other side of the world?
And, I'm on the other side of the world from you, warner. I don't want the storms you might stir.

>> There was a couple...<<
The correct form there would be 'There were a couple of whities like my self among them.'
I won't get into the 'among/amongst' - 'amid/amidst' thing for now but the verb should definitely be 'were' not 'was' because by 'couple of...' you mean a small percentage of the whole. I'm sure you didn't expect us to believe there WERE just the two of you? Or WAS it really just you two?

How am I doing? I normally avoid choices limited to only two alternatives but I'm curious which side I'm on.

Just us two. And the other was in Saudia Arabia most of the time, so I was effectively west-indian until I got married. That was because my 'old' friends started making fun of me, so I stayed with them instead.

So if you two (anhaga & warner) can both be so nice to me at the same time, why can't you get along the same without me. I cannot create neutral space indefinitely.
