The Jelly Baby Debate

That was fascinating information. I had no idea that this was going on. It started out as a joke. So they've changed shape? I didn't know that. And as for there being less instead of five, that was something else I didn't know.
Thanks my friend

I would like to know when the PTB let the Jelly Babies grow up. They must be getting fed up with being perpetual babies.

Thought you might like that LW - at least it's opened up the debate again
MMF - I guess if J.M Barrie didn't let Peter Pan grow up then Barratts aren't gonna let Jelly Babies into the world of adulthood either! Maybe not such a bad thing tho It's tough being all grown up

Thanks Tsarina.
Yup I guess they must grow up and be replaced by other babies, or like Peter Pan They just don't grow up at all. Makes you think, though, doesn't it?

Now I know what I missed out on when I was in England - I should have looked for those Jelly Babies instead of buying fudge

See. If you'd only said when you came to see me, I could have taken you to a great sweet shop just around the corner and they sell them loose.

Ok it's a date.
Oh by the way. Do you think there's a jelly baby heaven where they all trundle off to?

I haven't had a JB for absolutely years but like a previous poster, I always used to bite the head off. Now, how many colours were there? How,(if at all) have they changed and are there (or have there been) different types? Any dusted ones? (icing sugar,) different shapes, or even flavours? I suppose 'relatives' could include: gingerbread men, sugar mice, wine gums, dolly mixtures, liquorice allsorts and various things fashioned out of black or red liquoice, (pipes etc.)

Well this is something we've discussed in the past. We think they have flat backs so that you can lie them on the flat of your hand and flick them into your mouth. There is a debate as to the colours. Some one said there used to be five now there's only four. The favourites seem to be the green then the black then the orange then the yellow. I thought there was a read as well. But can you back that up? Yup I like to lick them all over, my tongue going into their crevices.

I can't remember if there used to be a red one, but it's a common sweets colour so I can't see why there shouldn't have been. As to laying them on my hand and licking the crevices, I prefer something larger than a jellybaby. I used to bite off the head then the rest would be chomped and swallowed.

The bite their heads off attack seems to be the most preferred method for eating them. Some people like to toss them into the air and catch them in their mouths. There was a lady who squashed two together, back to back, and thrust them in her mouth all at once.I wonder what she had against them being belly to belly?

Belly to belly hey? Has anyone had any 'deformed' or 'conjoined twins' jelly babies?

I don't know about the pink. But I think they've always done a red.
