The non-existent singing talents of Patrick McNee + Honor Blackman (1964). Serious candidate for the most horrible gouge-in-vinyl ever perpetrated.

At one minute forty six seconds into this video, a pale blue glider flies straight out of the sun towards the camera, then banks out to the left of the frame.
That's me.

I've always been a big fan of Weird Al Yankovic. He's really very, very good at what he does, visually, musically, and especially verbally. His lyrical pastiches are rarely less than very good and occasionally absolutely brilliant (I'm thinking here especially of his incredibly detailed summary of the plot of "The Phantom Menace" done as "American Pie").
But this one takes the cake. The video is of course a homage to "Subterranean Homesick Blues", and although the style is similar, the tune isn't that close to the original. But it's the lyrics that I find myself shaking my head in wonder at. The original lyrics were incredibly dense, swiftly delivered, and unless you were paying close attention and got the references, didn't seem to make a lot of sense.
Weird Al's lyrics may not seem to make much sense either... until you read them backwards. It's at that point you bow down to the sheer linguistic chutzpah (not to mention skill) required to write a song in which EVERY SINGLE LINE is a palindrome, then perform it in a style where it seems appropriate. We're not worthy.

Not to mention the fact that they rhyme. That's what impressed me most.
