I believe that site is in the backlog of this thread as well. Sounds like a reasonable return for watching a few adverts.

Certainly a good deal there, I agree...
It would be definitely better than the adverts we are subject to while using the Telewest's TVinteractive and email services...

I've finally added quite a bit more to the entry.
If anyone wants to take a look it's at A2297667 if there's more you think I can add, or think any of it is incorrect, feel free to tell me.

Terri needs a new computer as her's is about to die. Even though she's not a digi user, she is very reliant on a computer for maintaining contact with the world. I think she fits the criteria of this thread.
Here's a thread where people are discussing her options:

I'm hoping people here can help. Is there anyone here that can compile a list of what is available?

Terri here finally!
Must be quick, my "Guardian" & someone who is trying to persuade me to swap my guitar for a possibly dodgy computer will be arriving at any moment. Complicated cos both only speak French!! Loup, i see you have eyes, please stay online if poss to help. (are you still at same email address? (the active one? mine has changed, battled too long with tiscali.fr & given up in disgust!)
(For those who don't know, i do qualify as "disabled" here, though not badly so.) IF i end up getting sorted today, anyone needing a desperately old (but still functioningn right now) computer in france: apply here. Doubt it,would survive the post but probably possible in a car etc. Visit to mediaval town in South West france thrown in! if you don't mind primitive accomodation.
No idea about techie stuff, but the basic idea behind all this sounds very good; sort of "alternative Ebay" Nice one!!!!

loup!
Hopefully the situation is sorted for the moment. L has finally arrived, returned the guitar ...& been faced with the realisation that Terri isn't on her own in all this, you lot are here & so is a French guy who actually knows at least as much about computers as he does!
He (L) is still going to "bring it round sometime" for me to have a look, but the immediate pressure is off, so long as this one keeps working for a bit longer.

moving temporarily back to the aim, found this in my trawls.
UK Midlands computer manufacturer MultiVision has gone under, company bought by Carrera SSC subsiduary. They seem to be keeping the offices and staff, but flogging off the warehouse, presumably to restock with their own brand of computers.
Anyway, if you go to http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/51/36335.html
and go to the bottom of the article there is a link in the last sentance to their flog-off site. Click on the 'stock clearance' tab.
I haven't had the chance to fully investigate so I don;t know if there is owt worthwwhile there or not but if anyone is in the market in the UK then perhaps worth a 5 min look and report back?

There's not a huge amount of info on the website but they appear to be offering computers for between £145 and £200. Specification and peripherals aren't shown (don't know if you get a monitor/keyboard, f'rinstance).

Terri, would you like to clarify if you would be interested in any of the gear being offered on this thread? I wasn't certain from your post.

Ok. When I get the chance, I'll reread this thread and see if there is something that would be suitable, and who was offering tech support.
France isn't that far from the UK . If there is suitable gear available then something might be able to be worked out?

I think the *free computer if you take the advertising* option would be the cheapest (strikes forehead..obviously!). The problem with that would be that the server would have to be in France for them so the system would of course be french. Would that be acceptable?
Key: Complain about this post
