Hm. I wonder if Windows should legally be allowed to use the 'net.. It's not their original technology afterall...

That's a myth by the way. It wasn't created for the military.

Can I suggest that we keep thread drift, and unrelated technical chat to a minimum - people in need of computers are being directed to this thread, and those previously on digiboxes and now having difficulty accessing h2 might find a long backlog problematic.
I was thinking also that some technical support might be needed to get people up and running with the gear once they have it. I'm assuming that there wil be plenty of people here with the expertise, yeah?
kea.

What's this thing for?
If I have time, I'll surely be available for 'tech support'.

The following site isn't quite what this thread is about but may be relevant if people do have other computer equipment which they don't need (it certainly seems to have been made flashier looking since I was there last):

"Digibox users" can, and are using this site with their digibox, even now. There are only a few so far.
Plus now we can do more, but we still don't have the use of external links yet. So http://www.iespell.com is not available to us. Then again, we are not using M$ IE.

So, now, despite Telewest actively proving they don't want them to access the site, they are still doing it? Too funny. I wonder what parts they are limited to. I wonder if it is only the Front Page. I wonder how far you're exaggerating the truth.
And there never was real access to outside links. Guess some folks will have to get off their backsides and do something for a change.
Now, back on topic please. This is for helping people, not sniping and bickering. You want to do that, start a new thread or post on an existing one.

I'm happy to make any deliveries etc on the South Coast (although I'm limited to working around work times)
I'll keep my eyes out for any free/spare equipment going too

gooseitup, I'm a little confused...How does an online dating service help this thread and the people it's trying to help? Or am I missing something here?

Ohmigod. You spam on a thread that's about helping people. What trash.

My two cents on distibution. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure you will ) but Telewest is mainly available in urban areas, where there are likely to be other researchers within a reasonable distance. So local distribution within those areas shouldn't be too much of an issue. (These are *local* computers for *local* people!)
I don't have a car at the moment, but will have access to one in about three weeks' time, and will be happy to collect equipment from one location and deliver to another in the South London area.

Are there *Post Office Boxes* there as there are here? That would allow us to mail to an anonymous location without revealing names or addresses. Just a thought.
I knew the community here would come together over this, give yourselves a pat on the back!
