Because most of the film is gonna be done in CGI,
The older films had the dirty rough look, with puppets that looked real. this roughness is something that is missing from the prequels,

any other reasons?

The storey line will gradually get weaker as more are made...

To much has to happen in the next film,
Most of the episode 1/2 had loads of pointless scenes

They tried to bring back the New Romantic scene in the late 90s/early noughties. They ask Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) if he thought this would be succesful. He said "No, I don't think you can ever truly recreate something". I think this says a lot about Star Wars - it was a baby of the 70s, the world was a different place and George Lucas was a relative youngster who was hungry, had a lot to prove, and was full of ideas.

I think this hits at the essence of why some of the 'classic' films/sit coms, etc, are fairly old, they were right* at the time, and don't necessarily work if you just keep making new versions of them, with the special effects stuff, I still remember how Red Dwarf was distroyed by introducing proper special effects, and deciding storeyline wasn't vital... The films will still probably get a huge sucess, because of teh devote followers of teh origional trilogy...

Going by the last five, the prognosis is not good...

Didn't one of the writers drop out of Red Dwarf? I'd guessed that was the main factor in the quality drop.

.... because the actor playing Anakin has to convincingly portray the descent into the dark side in a way that is completely convincing and evokes at least some sympathy. It needs the kind of actor who could play Hamlet, Richard III, or Macbeth. And I don't think (on the evidence of the last film) that the bloke they've cast is up to it. But I'd love to be wrong....

The point I agree most with is that they've wasted too much time in the last two movies. All 9 episodes have been written long ago and they should have stuck to it.

Why will the next prequel be cr@p? Because the first two were more or less cr@p. Phantom Menace relied on CGI to the detriment of storyline and character development. (Dialogue was never Lucas's strong point, so we won't go into that.) Attack of the Clowns went along a similar route, plus we were asked to believe that a youth who had little more than an over-inflated belief in his own ability was headed for the Dark Side. Annakin just came across as your average teenager getting p!ssed off because the adults wouldn't treat him like a grown-up. He's going to have to get really bad really quickly to become Darth Vader in the next 'episode', and it's just not going to be believable, IMHO.

P.S. I enjoyed the original three 'episodes' of Star Wars and still do (I have them on video), but they were products of their time. What Lucas has done with the prequels has added nothing to the sequence. In fact, IMHO, he's almost spoiled it by going for the hi-tech options. I appreciate that he always said the effects in the original films were nowhere near as good as he wanted, but by going for great effects he's missed the point of making good films.

To quote someone talking about the effects of the origional three. What was great was the "throw away quality".

It was believable because the whole thing looked 'every day'. Luke's speeder had dirt, scratches and flaking paint etc

other than that not just the guy they have for anakin butmost of the acters seem to be out of there depth. insted of seeming to be pwerfull and dangerious (exept maybe samuel l jacksion) the jedi seem to be stupid and secrative not just that but its a good start

I think Ewan Mcgregor is great!
Hes the only good thing in the first 2, he plays the part of Obi wan brilliant. I just want them to bring back real sets, and real charcters.

I watched a documentry about Ailens (its on the box set) about a guy who has all the props from the films and all. The detail of some of them is amazing. I still believe a model or puppet looks far better than a CGI character

I feel sorry for the actors (especially Ewan McGregor and Christopher Lee) because of the sheer awfulness of the scripts, its like 'get some script writers Lucas,'

Maybe they should get the guys who did the script for the star wars game Knights of the Old Republic, they did a brilliant job and they could HK-47 into the films.

I just hope Lucas watched Lord of the Rings and hopefully took notes.

Aren't they making a Red Dwarf film in New Zealand right now, because they had to halt production of Takeshi's Castle in October while Craig Charles left for NZ!!!

I heard rumours of a Red Dwarf film, but I thought it was being made in Australia but maybe they're doing location stuff in NZ.

It has the potential to be great, the story is there.
