Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Aug 26, 2004
> I don't like the AOL advert at all. The one where the guy is looking at pics from a stag night and he doesn't want his other half to see.
Excuse me? Are you disrespecting the immortal (and immoral) Cap'n Frapples? Admittedly our Ben wasn't happy about the fact they dyed his hair and made him "look like a sinister Harry Potter" but he thought the woman playing his wife was fit, so everything worked out okay.

Everyone in advertland has a fit wife. In fact, the strangest thing about advertland is that in adverts for acne cream the person in the 'before' shot has one spot at the most!

adverts that advertise albums and the such that all refer to the rubbish manufactured boy/girl band their wingin' as the BIGGEST thing at the moment

Lady in a tree Posted Aug 27, 2004
One spot? You are kidding aren't you? There is an advert out at the moment where there ar two girls getting ready to go out and one looks in the mirror and says "Oh no! A Spot" which she handily has her finger over so you can't even see there isn't one there.
It's like the men shaving when they have no stubble to shave - one swipe of the "blades" and voila! perfect shave!

Dairylea
C Hawke Posted Sep 11, 2004
I'm confused over the Dairylea cheese adverts.
A few years ago we were told "Kids would do anything for Dairylea", but no we have Ninja Cows doing various tricks to get kids to eat the stuff, like breaking into changing rooms and hiding the stuff in their lunch boxes.
I think some research has been done and they have realized that kids obviously hated the soft squishy stuff - hence the "Not Squishy" tag line they use now.

Carling. A mass of people playing football in the street.
It's against the law. Road traffic act 1980, to play football in a street that can disrupt traffic. It's also promotes a bloody dangerous thing to do, not just from cars, or to cars being driven, but from people that don't take to kind a view of dickheads using peoples cars as goal post; not everybody would just let the police deal with the anit-social activity... Get to the bloody park and play football!!!

Does anyone here know what the advert with the jellyfish in the desert and the dancing chinese cowboys means? Or the odd cadbury adverts with the sheep and puma??

Nope. I just let them wash over me as the demented ramblings of drugged up ad men and women

You know, there's some cool mobile phone ads around;
Nokia, connecting people
The future's bright, the future's Orange (without ever even showing a phone)
Those stylish O2 ads with Sean Bean's voiceover.
Phones 4U on the other hand...
Don't they realise a mobile phone is a status symbol? These down market ads with characters borrowed from Ocean Finance are hardly likely to appeal to the bulk of phone buyers. They aren't even funny - a redeeming feature of some otherwise appalling adverts.

Ocean Finance - especially the 7 stone weakling and his 30 stone wife on the sofa!!! And then he actually refers to her as "the wife"...and there's the woman that says "they don't babble you with science"
Classic!

I think the current volve ads are trying to sell a lifestyle rather than the car. So that we think that nay successful middleaged man should be driving a volvo.
p.s. don;t ya just love those self correcting double posts

The one that's irritating me is Activa.
"Bloated? Yeas, me too. You wouldn't believe what i've tried to make it go away." Obviously hasn't tried farting then.
And as for Bifida Digestivum: what the hell is that? Did they just make that up?
And what exactly is your digestive transit? Sounds like half van half biscuit.
