and this morning the volume was set too low.

Beatrice Posted Sep 25, 2003
My radio alarm is set for 7 a.m, at a volume loud enough to wake me, but not so loud as to jerk me into reality in too rough a fashion.
I'm usually awakened before that by the cry "Wake up! Spiderman! With great power comes great responsibility" emanting from my 12 year old son's room.*
I usually lie in bed for about 5 minutes, trying to piece together and analyse my dreams of the previous night. Once a song I dont like comes on the radio (Radio Waky, a local commerical pop station which plays a lot of oldies)I leap out of bed for my compulsory cuppa.
* from HIS alarm clock, rather than from hisself, if you get my drift...

My mobile phone has a cock-a-doodle-doo sound effect which is *really annoying. It does the trick though.
Not fully awake until ablutions have been performed. Have been known to attempt to wash hair with shower gel and body with shampoo (usually after having a few too many ginger beer shandies the night before).

I have been getting up at 6am for so long now, my body clock seems to wake me up at 5.55am just before my alarm clock goes off

I usually hit the snooze button three or four times before I finally drag myself out of bed. Either that or sheer panic when I relaize what time it is frequently works.
And for some reason my brain is usually functioning at least marginally well once I'm up but I tend not to be able to form a coherent sentence for another half hour.

I have four alarms: two on my clock radio (set to BBC 5 Live), one on my watch and one on my mobile phone. They're usually set on and around one hour before I have to be somewhere. The first alarm is always hell, especially if it is the radio as my mind suddenly moves from unfocused to tightly focused on what the presenter is saying. It's like when you go out into a bright light from a dark room and your eyes hurt...
Even when I've not got anything in particular to do, I still set my alarm, albeit for about 11:00. It just suddenly occured to me a while back how much of a waste it is to sit in bed until about 2 pm when I could be going out and having fun (or sitting on the computer).

In Winter I have a sunrise alarm clock, so the light wakes me before the alarm sounds. Much gentler.
Unless someone else in the house gets up earlier, that usually wakes me up.
In Summer I have to rely on the sound once I've got used to sleeping when it's light.
But I don't feel sociable until I've had breakfast & got washed & dressed.

I normally wake up quite stupidly happy for some reason.
Except when I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep - then I'm not so happy.
But I tend to be one of those happy morning people that really annoy everyone else.
