Liz made me throw away my playing pants. They were white,cotton-lycra mix boxer. I say they were white because they were white when I bought them.
She said that I had to throw them away because they were old, grey and had seen better days. I said that in that case we should throw away pensioners and her cat.
They were seriously comfy housed the boys very well inspight of numerous holes. Girls just dont understand.

Tea: It's a part of that old boxers vs. briefs dillemma. Briefs keep things in place for the most part, and boxers allow things to rove around wherever they like. The overclothes don't matter too much.

I have to say (well, do I really?) that I find boxers much sexier than briefs.
Anyhow, I do. So there.

Ok, so enough there are some common sense reasons behind male-pants selection.
Fair enough I can accept that.
I don't have the equipment so i am not qualified to comment.
But tell me this.......why do men wear socks with sandals
and....................... why do men wear socks with shorts?

You can wash sweaty socks which are easy and cheap to change. Its harder to wash sweaty shoes.
Anyway people think my legs look good in shorts and rolled down football socks.
Nothing excuses or makes sense when it comes to socks and sandals though.

hi Famous fi,
In Sevilla it is only tourists who wear socks with sandals - something that makes all Sevillanos roll their eyes and flutter their fans in dismay.
As for shorts. Well, again, in Spain, you would only *ever* see a foreigner wearing shorts in the city. A Sevillano would never stoop so low as to wear 'beach clothing' in town.
But I can only speak for Spain. And specifically for Sevilla. Things might be quite different in Barcelona.
Recently young teenage Spanish boys have been seen to wear quite cute capri pants around town. But I have yet to see a Spaniard EVER ever ever wear socks with their sandals.

By socks with shorts, do you mean long socks pulled up to the knee?

A question I've been meaning to ask. Shorts with short socks is fine. It's the long ones that look silly. Wearing no socks with athletic shoes is disgusting.

Hear, hear. That was going to be my point.

Enclosed shoes - socks = sweaty feet = terrible odor + foot fungus

Enclosed feet + socks = hot feet = bad tempered
Foot odour and fungus can be avoided by any fool with half a braincell under those circumstances, whereas hot feet can't.

I wear socks with my trainers and sports shorts because a lot of my work and free times is spent doing sports.
If it wasa hot day and I was wearing semi-smart shorts and sandals I would definately never wear socks the whole point is to wear as little as possible and stay as cool as possible whist getting on with important things like going to the pub.
In colder times I still wear sports gear just the same as in the summer and for the same reasons because they keep me cooler whist doing sports. Yet if wear trousers the hems meet my shoes and I wear socks to keep my anckles and feet warm too.
This brings me to the Capri pants that Azahar admires as for me its a case of
. What is it these guys do they want to trousers but have to keep their ankles cool? Or do they want to wear shorts whilst still keeping their knees warm?

MR Shark
Sports socks also protect my feet from blisters, they also need to be long enough when pulled up to hold a shinpad in place.
Thay may not be pleasing to everyones eye and offend the fashion sensibilities of those who dont use them but some styles of clothing are shaped by necessity not vanity and foppery.

Actually, no socks with athletic shoes does sound a bit ick, Blues - good thing you'll be staying in the flat next door! (remember to keep the windows open, okay?)
Blicky, capri pants look cute. Cooler than trousers, not as cool as shorts, perhaps. But when it's 40-something degrees *nothing* is cool, believe me.
Anyhow, I thought the question was about wearing socks with sandals, which I really think ought never to happen, no matter what.

Who in gods name is this Mr Shark you keep talking to Blicky? Blues is fine, y'know...
I don't own a apir of trainers, or athletic shoes. I canh't imagine ever owning a pair again. What I do wear in the summer, regularly without socks is a pair of *canvas* Converse All-Star hi tops in a Ramones stylee.
I don't suffer from sweatry feet in them. I don't get foot fungus.
