Gaaaaaaaa! And then we'd all fall down and dieeee!!!!!
Truer was what kelli said - the list is being added to daily, if not hourly, so the LIST only exists for a moment or two at a time.

I doubt it is being changed hourly - or even daily by now, but I doubt it is now static.

Not particuarly....
However I have to say that I am not offended by *any* swear words. I always think that they are just words.
See you next Tuesday is deffo my fave ....

Funny you should say that, Ben. I sometimes feel a bit embarrassed to translate 'mierda' for my students, but not when I translate 'joder'.

I don't use it, well, in my life I've used it less perhaps than half a dozen times. I don't like hearing it either.
It's not a nice word, the conjunction of such unpleasant and hard consonant sounds and the short, barked vowel.
It is not necessary as a verb or a noun - there are perfectly good and acceptable alternative words, and using it as an expletive just displays a limited vocabulary.
Having said that, I don't feel very strongly about the whole thing. And I've not come across anything affected by the profanny filter yet, as far as I know. Still trying to work out what the fuss is about.

This is getting very tiresome.
Lil's right - all you need is one thread, and the profanity filter thread on the Community Soapbox is such a discussion. I believe I'll concentrate my attemtion there. Whether or not SoRB might claim that he's asking a serious and valid question, this thread is already turning over the same tired remains of the other thread and is likely to continue to do so, ad nauseum, with little new content.
You should run a couple of sweepstakes - one on how long it will be before Ferretbadger comes along and bangs on once again about Father Jack's favourite word, and another one on which post kelli will reiterate that her Polari entry now fails the filter.
We know.
Of course, now that I've said that, I've completely banjaxed the odds of either of those two things happening

Not offensive but I have realised I do not use it that much I prefer to use crap or shite they sound better. I just don't lke the word particularly from a linguist point of view.
I can certainly see why people do not like it it has got the old hard sylable and letter T at the end giving it some aural force.

Trillian's Child, I sympathise in a way and a lot of the reaction and repetition of reaction is irritating, but if kitboyes tried to write this entry A4177280, exactly as it is, with the *'s, now, he'd be told 'This entry has been blocked as it contains a word which other users may find offensive. Please edit your entry and post it again.' and would be unable to post it.
I think it's an entry well worth having here, it's a great read and needs the banned words, imo. The UnderGuide entry on the Front Page today was the better, imo again, for the extra colour added by the couple of swear words originally in it.
Now Kelli's been told the eds will look at her Polari entry which has banned words also, but would a newish researcher know the ropes enough to request that, would they bother, and outside the EG will the staff have time to consider any such requests.
I don't know. That side of this concerns me. The other side of this that bothers me is that when you take responsibility away from people there's a tendency to react by feeling, being and acting less responsibly.
Apologies for offtopicness, and if I say anymore on either thread I'll be repeating myself so I leave things at that.
