Keep us informed.
so how painful is a tat, then? I hear around the top of the arm is not that unpleasant.

Well, not bad at all really. I have two, one on the shoulder/top of the arm/bicep bit, and another at the bottom edge of my shoulder blade on my back. I wouldnt regard it as hugely painful, its constant annoyance that you can block off,*does kung fu breathing exercises* and afterwards it doesnt really hurt much at all, unless people slap it, like when I went out on a night out after getting my new tat...
It hurts more over bone than on flesh, and my next one is probably gonna hurt considerably, because its gonna go over my shoulder, where the skin is very close to the bone. The whole design is going to be another dragon, an outline, with its tail curled around my arm/bicep, the body going up over my back, over my shoulder with the head on my pec...

Ooh. You've gotta give me some photos of that, Bob. It sounds beautiful...
But yeah, what he said too. Tattoos aren't really that bad. I nearly fell asleep whilst mine was being done. The needle is actually strangely relaxing. Like high-speed acupuncture in a way. Though my next one's going to be a bugger - Inside of my wrist. Dunno what yet, I just want one there.

Its gonna be a while before I can get that one, its gonna cost a fair bit, hence the piercing to keep me happy for now. It will be damn good though... And it will go well with me other dragon...

The link to the picture of the dragon that I want is back in my USpace, tucked away in one of the journal entries where I'm talking about my new ink, back when I got it. That'll cost me a few bob (pun unintended ), so like you I'm getting a placeholder to placate me until I can afford it.

Ill have a look when Im at home, cant access the net from work. But dragons are great, thats what I have on my other arm, and a crow on a stone cross on my back, but that ones a lot smaller than Id like now, but it was fine at the time...

There was one I wanted years ago, that was a crow on a kind of dead, thorny tree. It was really well done, but unfortunately I never kept the picture, so I've not been able to get it

My other potentials Im thinking about right now are a barcode across my spine, just at collar level, with a DNA double helix below it...

I don't know why I read this conversation, because I now feel nauseous. I don't get how anyone can have anything at all pierced, it just makes me want to scream and shiver and run away. But then I'm petrified of needles and sharp things like that.
There's also the whole getting-it-ripped-out factor. But out of all that, from what I've seen, eyebrows are better than lips. I've seen some quite nice eyebrow piercings, although I wouldn't care for one myself.

Fair enough, each to their own. Do you feel the same way about tattoos?

Why *is* the fear of needles so widespread? It cannot be due to pain alone, since they do not hurt that much (whether piercing or TB jab etc.); and fears are rarely logical like that. And people who have *never* been subjected to one still go off into fits... must be some kind of meme?

BobTheFarmer Posted Apr 11, 2003
True, but I find all non-logical fearing wierd as I have none. My workmate jumping on a chair to get away from the tiny spider shecould kill with one step, someone running from a needle, makes no sense to me. all my fears are far too logical...

I have no bother with needles or spiders. (The latter I like quite a lot, in fact) however clowns and... ironing boards, I have trouble with. It's not a fear as such as a scared dislike.
I will not mock anyone for their fear per se, unless they are *stupid* about it. I was called upon to remove a spider from a wall, and the person objecting to it did not sensibly go somewhere where they couldn't see it, but stood there pointing and going 'Meeuuuhhheheueur!'

I think you'd look great with an eyebrow piercing Bob. I didn't find my tattoos painful, although I could certainly feel them being done. But in a way, they must have hurt, at least a bit, because I remember *really* enjoying them being done.
On the other hand, all my piercings have hurt, although none bad enough to stop me doing them again. I wouldn't advise a ring, because there is more chance the 'wound' will get infected as the ring moves around. A bar that fits perfectly will help to stop germs getting in.

I'd love to get my labret pierced, but Prince Charming's not a fan of piercings, so out of respect for that I haven't. I don't mind. He's happy for me to get tattoos, so we've come to a consensus.
