"American Indians should have their property rights restored" and that "negotiations should be undertaken to resolve all outstanding differences between the tribes and the government."

That sounds a lot different from "we honor all our treaties," doesn't it?

Two posts in one day ,I don't think I have ever done that since joining last fall. Analies I want to shake you to wake you up. I read the things you posted in RHO and n2g2 sites and what you say about 'white people' {and I am not sure who qaulifies as white} but it is nothing more than racism. Please step back and look at what you are saying.

OK I've read the backlog and been thoroughly amused at Analiese's toying with the white boys. Great stuff. I'm glad to see cl zoomer taking charge and trying to sort things out diplomatically but I'm afraid the point (Injun lady teases innocent white boys) has been missed by almost everyone. It was ever thus. Ah well.

As for the one acknowledgement of my '3-phases-of-America' theory in which it was pointed out that I had overlooked 'Mountain Time':
Yes it's true that the TV Networks arbitrarily break the nation into two separate but supposedly equal parts with an Eastern and Central simulcast and a Mountain/Pacific simulcast. And while I believe North America should be similarly subdivided into three vertical parts to be in tune with cultural and historic realities, I can see where there might be room for a fourth.

The east coast portion which I would call Atlantica includes all the areas reached by the tidewaters of the great eastern ocean. This includes Baffin Island, Labrador, the Atlantic Provinces, Quebec and basically the original 13 American colonies from Bangor to Key West.

The central section which I would call 'Mississippi' would include everything between the Appalachians and the Great Plains (called the Prairies where they reach into Canada) from New Orleans north to James and Hudson Bay.

The West, called Pacifica, would be essentially everything west of the Rockies from Baja to the Alaskan panhandle.

So yes there is a grey area. The space between the Rockies and the Sieeras and most of the drier parts of the Great Plains including Utah, the Grand Canyon and Nevada. For convenience sake we can call this 'Mountainia' and fully expect it to be an ongoing cause of war between the Mississippites and the Pacifists. Such a war would as always be profitable to the merchants, bankers and industrialist of Atlantica and give purpose to the lives of those residing (I hesitate to say 'living') west of the Blue Ridge mountains.

Analiese, I am concerned. Have you been drinking? I am quite serious about that question because you are acting irrationally and with venom. I ask again, what is your purpose here? If it is to educate us, you are failing. If it is merely to vent, then you have accomplished that but with hatred and fury. If we are supposed to feel guilt and motivate our govenment to address your concerns, I am Canadian and others here are British, some from Australia and New Zealand, what would you have us do? Why are you so unaccepting of sympathy?

I have to be honest and say I haven't read too much about the Libertarian party's position on Native rights. But it sounds pretty good to me. Can we count on your vote, then?

jwf - Interesting position... racial prejudice is now known as "toying with the white boys," is it? The people who would placate a racist are the peacemakers, and the people who refuse to accept racist behavior are the ones missing the point? Should I assume you believe that racist behavior is acceptable?

I couldn't give a flying sock if you are Indian. If you even had a clue about your own culture, you would understand that the earth belongs to the earth, and not to a bunch of people. We are merely renting it out temporarily.

The fact that you are inherently racist, inherently tribalistic (without a single characteristic of the tribe), inherently stupid and rude, and ignorant about the aura of this site, is the reason why so many people are opposed to you. We are not hypocrites (remember this : if you want to use a word often, learn to spell it!), we are not ignorant about the past. We all know the horrific treatment that your ANCESTORS (NOT YOU!) received. But big deal, that is all in the past. Women got treated badly, Jews got treated badly. Buddhists, Satanists, Christians, Muslims. Pretty much everyone existing in this world has ancestors that have been treated badly.

More so have been at the receiving end of worse treatment in todays society, for less things than skin colour. I would advise you to get a life, get a hobby, and demolish that cute little soap box you seem to have created. You are not downtrodden, you just have nothing better to do than concetrate on the colour of your skin. And that, I think, is extremely sad.

We're all actually different people, Analiese. People who recognize that you cannot use past injustices as an excuse for childish name-calling. We're not stupid. Every one of us that resides in North America knows how colonialism works and how the United States obtained their territories. Your links don't have anything new to share for anyone who's ever done the slightest bit of delving into history.

Why not use some of your passion and energy to work for social justice in the here and now? Why not volunteer on a reservation where help is needed? Why not petition members of Congress, both local and national, to honor treaties made and broken? Why not run for office yourself? Maybe not--it's so much easier to point the finger and scapegoat.

Perhaps I missed it Analiese, but what tribe are you a member of?

So, uhm ... what would you have of us poor misbegotten souls who actually live IN the Rockies (or just south of the range proper)? Get killed in the war between the Texans and the encroaching Pacifists trying to route the Mountanians? This smacks of a political science exercise: what if the USA were just like Afghanistan.
