I can remember collecting those old style ring pulls for charity. It was all the rage in the 1970's to get school children to collect any old tat in aid of something-or-other.

I know!! Do Blue Peter still encourage kids to SWAP their old tat through the medium of the 'Bring and Buy Sale?'
Do you remember their 'TOTALIZER,' flashing up how much old tat they'd collected over the last however many weeks?

Grifters (the bike not the chocolate bar.)
I have have a theory that the massive density of these forerunners to the mountain bike actually caused them to become singularities and give rise to alternate universes or that their incredible mass have caused them to simply sink into the ground.
Cosmologists say that between 90% and 80% of the prdicted matter in the universe is missing but I think it was just used in the early 1980s the producton of raleigh grifters.

We used to think that the bikes would do what their name was. So we thought that choppers would chop other bikes, but chippers would only chip.

Do they still make that advent calendar every christmas? I wonder how many house fires have been started by kids trying to make that.

A broadie was otherwise known as a '180'. If you could do a 180 you were cool. If you could do a 360 you were god.

*lol* On a Grifter?
You ever tried lifting a Grifter?
The trick was to go like a bat out of hell - the momentum you'd gain being so ing heavy...maybe it was just the kids on BMXs around me were really bad at it and couldn't do anything

Bad quality animation, a la original Captain Pugwash.

Bad animation - how about Mary, Mungo and Midge? Apart from being very naff to look at, it was also very dull.
Does anyone else remember the Pink Panther Cartoon Show? And more importantly, does anyone else remember Pink Panther Chocolate? It was actually pink.

You DO still see them, but neon signs are not nearly as common as they used to be.

High diving boards at local swimming baths. Great fun as a kid. I suppose some idiot fell off the top and claimed succesfully then got the rest closed down spoiling everyone else's fun.
