Does anyone else remember those spherical 'dalek' things that used to hang from the ceiling in Boots in the 70s/80s? They were security cameras and I found them slightly frightening as a child.

yep, sure do. My dad used to be in charge of them in some stores.

Sloping race tracks. Like the one at Brooklands. Why did they get rid of them?

I think I meant Happy Eater? I'm always getting things wrong!

Trin Tragula Posted Oct 12, 2003
Happy Eater? Now you're talking (about something you really don't see much anymore)
But no, the Little Chef thing is indeed a mystery - they were really common all over the country at one stage. They seem to have thinned out at around the same time as starlings

The Groob Posted Oct 12, 2003
Eh? We had the thinning out of sparrows. How odd.

Trin Tragula Posted Oct 12, 2003
Sparrows, starlings. Maybe they're together somewhere - who knows?

According to
http://search.csmonitor.com/durable/1999/03/18/p23s2.htm
the Marathon bar known in the States was different to the British one. The British Marathon was known as "Snickers" in the States so now it's called that everywhere. It was always called "Snickers" in Germany. But they had another name for Twix (Raider) and now that has changed to "Twix" in Germany, too.
