Is a cat vomiting thought to be a cat social grace like belching is in some countries?
.
Yet again my cat has ate her food at breakneck speed to spew it up a few minutes later.
I serve it at room temperature, puke, I served it cold, puke! I serve not too much, puke!
.
Perhaps it is like bringing an owner a dead mouse, a way of saying thank you.
.
.....I won't get onto my cat eating its own vomit, people have just eaten their breakfast!

As I write this, it is just after 2am, and I have just had to go outside int he pouring rain with a mouse that I rescued from one of my three cats, Hickory. I hope my neighbours didn't see me, it is absolutely pouring, and there I was in my nightie, bare feet and a struggling mouse in my hand.
Weird things that my cats have done - Hickory likes to bring in wet leaves. She puts them in a pile by the backdoor, and purrs loudly each time she adds a new one.
Hickory and Milo both play 'fetch' - Milo likes toy mice, Hickory likes shoelaces. I throw them, then they bring them back to my feet. They must think they are dogs.
Molly wakes me up in the morning by licking my nose. I swear she can tell the time, five minutes before my alarm rings, there she is, my furry alarm clock. She also has a habit of trying to curl up in my hair, but seeing as she's a really big cat, this doesn't work too well.
I love my beautiful kitties!

I've been up since 5.15am today because Tasha is petrified of the strong winds we are getting here at the moment.
Usually she sleeps all night on our bed but at about 5am she got up and went downstairs. We keep the catflap locked at night because of intruding cats now and she has a way of letting us know she needs out - she scratches very loudly on the front door mat!
She really needed to go to the toilet but wouldn't set one paw outside. I even picked her up and put her out but she nearly brained herself trying to get back in through the locked catflap so I had to let her in.
Eventually I had to put my shoes on (in nightshirt and dressing gown also) and go out to the shed for the litter tray. Then I couldn't find the litter. I compromised with lots of torn up newspaper. Left to her own devices she finally did use the tray - almost. It ended up nearly everywhere but.
So what am I to do with a cat who is scared silly by strong winds!?

I also used to have a cat that enjoyed playing fetch. With him, it was balls of rolled-up paper. He also did very athletic back flips when a peacock feather he was chasing along the floor was suddenly lifted over his head.

My cats love those feather-dangly things.
So much so, that by the third time I got it out, I figured it only had approximately 42% of the original feathers. Little maniacs!

Mittens had me and my daughter in stitches last night - usually she likes to settle on someone's knee, but as we were watching Bill Oddie on some wildlife programme she became fascinated by the birdies, and jumped down to sit alert right in front of the TV screen, intently watched those feathered creatures.
She's also going through a "eat my food - throw it up" phase at the moment, but I assumed it was her age (she's nearly 20...)

I've a new generation of dogs, Sasha and Jethro, but BooBoo is still with me. She's got to be 10ish now.
Her "trick" is sitting for treats! When I first brought her home from the shelter years ago, she lived in the rafters for days. On top of the fridge, up in high cupboards, etc. She didn't act like she'd ever been around before. So to help convince her that the dogs were safe and would obey me, I'd take them in the kitchen where she could see them and make them sit for their treats. After some days of watching this, she started gettting braver about being on ground level. The first time I offered her a kitty treat, she automatically sat for it. I figured if she was training herself, I'd run with it! Great party trick!

My cat regurgitates its food weekly but now goes to the wooden floor area I was guiding it to, on its own!

That's a handy bit of training! My animals (and their predecessors!) will leave the easily cleaned linoleum to puke on carpet!

Even better, my cat eats its own puke as cats do it to help digestion with enzymes!

Adorable vid, Az!
BooBoo is currently irritating Sasha , who is trying to eat a rawhide bone. Boo's zooming around the house like her tail's on fire, while Sash tries to ignore her. Isn't working!

az that's a great video, thanks for sharing.
I just got back from my yearly jaunt to LosCon, a SF convention held in L.A. every year. I had more fun than I've had in *years*! Tired, but the kitties were fine, when I got home.
Does anyone else on here leave their kitties for a couple of days (with plenty of food and water, and clean litter!), and if so, how do they take it? I recently had left them, with close-by friends checking up on them, for two weeks, while I house-sat someone else's house. They weren't much more distressed than they were over two days.

In the past I've left mine for up to two nights away on their own. The most important thing was leaving plenty of water out - they never seem to eat much when I'm not around.
Am planning on being away for four nights this coming long weekend and I'm concerned about leaving Azar, even though a neighbour will be coming over every day to check up on him. This will be the first time he's been left all on his own.

Our cat was a free spirit just walked into our kitchen one summer and set up home. She was very much a street cat, liked playing when the mood took her and not averse to a stroke or a tickle but not a cuddly thing. She would come in and settle in the laundry basket when it was butt cold and tip up for most meals but otherwise she pretty much please herself outside. So it was always surprise me that if we went away for anymore than three nights she'd always poo in the bath just the once on our return as a punishment and she'd always remember. We once managed to keep her out the bathroom for a fortnight before forgetting to shut the door but she hadn't forgotten that we had selfish enough to take a summer holiday without her.

Oh no, my cat gets Klingons and they end up in my lounge after she uses her litter tray!
