My cats have already found and unwrapped their Christmas presents, twice! They could smell the catnip mice through the wrappings
Last christmas they left us a present under the . A headless mouse and pile of sick were concealed amongst the presents and were discovered Christmas morning by my partner

So you think the tuna-scented shampoo might have something to do with it then?
Well, it is only Lua who does the hair thing. She also likes to (when I'm lying on my side in bed) drape herself over my neck like a cat scarf and purrrrrrrrr, which is actually quite nice in the winter (no central heating). Well, as long as she leaves my hair alone.

Cassie has started doing something new recently. She hooks her food out of her bowl with her paw!
If it is kitty kibble she drops it on the floor before eating it up, if it is meat from a pouch, she likes it off her paw. In doing this the bowl gets moved across the floor. So her Crimble pesent this year is a bowl with a rubber base ring.
She does this paw thing after she has taken the edge off her appetite the more usual way.

Mars enjoys the classic Maine Coon hobbies of splashing in his water bowl and dropping his favorite toys in it. One little fabric ball took several days to dry out after that.

cant be as bad as Hannahs only anoying habit ,any cup glass placed on floor "she" would *saunter* over check it was worthwhile by lookink into "vessel" then tip it over stepping backword as contents spread acrossed floor.
Then on her merry way as if to say wasn't me .
(*cat lovers know the description and meaning of saunter)

Beckatt -- our 18-pound (8-kilo) Maine Coon who died last year at age 14 -- always tipped over cups and glasses and then lapped up the liquid. Not quite as innocent-seeming as your girl!

Azar, my black gypsy-street-cat, loves playing with the water in the toilet (ick).
So I always have to tell guests who use my bathroom to make sure they put the toilet seat cover down. I mean, that's all I need. To have Azar fall into the toilet and drown. Meanwhile, bad enough if he plays in the toilet water and then crawls into bed with me.

ps
Lua has a bit of an obsession of sitting with her head over the cat water bowl - she will just sit there for ages without actually drinking any water. What is this?

sitting with her head over the cat water bo... could be old age, after all she's about 12,(?) being "of spanish decent) she will allready be thinner than northern european conterparts, if she was loseing abit of weight as well i would get her kidneys checked, try her on a low protien diet as well,

Lua used to be very tiny and svelte. She is a Siamese mix. After she had the operation to sterilize her (apparently done by Dr. Frankenstein - her whole belly was ripped open! I was so angry about this) she turned into a little ball on legs. Weirdly, she doesn't eat much. She has just gone all ROUND, somehow. And she doesn't even weigh that much. When I pick her up (when she lets me - she doesn't like being picked up) she really hardly weighs anything at all. She is just, well, ROUND. It's like she is a little cat balloon.
And she has this water bowl obsession thing.
Food-wise she eats the most expensive cat food on the market - Hills - specially formuated (so they say) for older cats. She is now 13 1/2.
The only good thing about her old age is that, although she remains the crankiest thing on four paws, she does now have a tendency to always want to 'be close' to me, no matter what I'm doing. She is not affectionate about this, of course, but she HAS to be next to me almost all the time. Poor ole Lua. I have often said to her - jokingly - that nobody but ME would ever love her because she is honestly just so unlovable. Well, except that somehow she is . . . if you look hard enough. If you spend time. Get to know her a bit. After 11 years (I adopted her when she was 2) I think I do know her by now. Goddamn weirdo!
Still, can't imagine my life without her. Somehow.

ah but theres the rub ,you will allways see parts of her in every cat you meet . Henry never likes being picked up ,fav place, nestled in arm pit, runsaway at the slightest sign of being picked up,doorbell, letterbox, showhim another cat ,straight for it.extremely feral.

Pick up rules for my cats:
Lua - never. She totally seizes up, beomes completely rigid and starts to howl.
Sunny - if you pick him up (if you CAN - he is so big) and hold him like a baby with his front paws over your right shoulder while securely holding his back paws with your left hand. Attempting to hold him over your left shoulder will *not* work. Somehow.
Azar - scoop him up in arms, again over right shoulder and rock him, though he is quite happy to have his hind legs dangle while your left hand holds him under his belly, and (he likes this) take him for a walk around the flat in arms and show him the sights from the balcony until he's had enough and starts to squirm.
The really amazing one is Azar. The one I could not even touch for the first three months he lived with me. He has turned into the most sensual beast ever, always wanting me to massage his paws, though he still runs out of the room whenever a stranger shows up.
Cats, eh?

i learn't the trick of holding ,other than "scruffing" which with some cats is the only way to hold them, and you better make sure you have a firm grip and good gloves. Is to hold them as you would a baby,I:e cradle and,(as they move you move {}with) not against,as a light hold on them lets you know what mucles they are flexing,so a slight readjustment n your part, and the cat generaly ,"waits their chance again" great fun watching look of amazement on someones face that has been struggling to settle cat down .

I too have heard that a cat sitting over a water bowl can indicate urinary tract problems.
Re the toilet: Mars fell into the toilet in his first few weeks with us. He was very surprised that the lid was up. He's also fallen into the bathtub. Lost his footing while leaning over the edge and peering into the water while I was in it.

My wife's cat, Snow, has acquired the habit of drinking Kool Aid. He seems to prefer the Pink Lemonade flavour and, when it's available, will refuse utterly to drink water.
Unless it's from the toilet bowl.
That in itself is a dangerous proposition because he's terrified of the shower. And the vacuum cleaner. And any high pitched noise. He's not scared of anything else, though.
Being a cat with six humans - three children and a teenager amongst that number - means he's extraordinarily patient. He's been through all the variations of being picked up, dragged around and dressed up so he's completely docile when he's hauled unceremoniously into the air and allowed to dangle by his armpits. He never looks pleased about it, but he's got this wonderful "they're only kittens" world weary expression.
Oh, and he drools like crazy whenever he's happy.
