Yet another PH to do with the company that supplies my medication. Some time ago I told them to call me on my landline because we have mobile phone signal problems. Today I discovered that nobody had made a note of my request, which explains all the missed calls over recent months.

The man I spoke with today said he would add a note to my file. Hopefully the other call centre staff will get the message.

School Nativity Photograph Restrictions
You're not allowed to take photos of your own children doing a nativity show in case a parent uploads the picture onto social media, but they invite the local newspaper to take photographs which are published for everyone to see.smiley - huh

You're not having hot flushes are you?!
Weird, that when I was getting dressed this morning & had just underlayers on, felt warm enough top & legs. As soon as put warmer layer on top, my legs started feeling too cold.

The whole 'blurring out' of pictures and videos of children is one of these hugely pointless fads that we will in future decades find hilarious and puzzling in equal measure.

It's like pixelating out images of fire or explosions just in case any pyromaniacs are watching and it might give them ideas or illegal pleasure smiley - erm What on earth does this achieve?

Paedos can access images or real-life views of fully-dressed children anytime, in a multitude of ways. Blocking their views of some pictures from school events will not ever prevent one single case of abuse, ever. Silly, silly, silly.

Colds, always happen at the most the most inappropriate time for me, and to try to shake them off. Always get a very sore throat and a feeling that I have had one too many smiley - stiffdrinksmiley - drunk and pumping into the table, and the door frame.

The return of the paperclip - Windows 10 has little cutesy announcements while updating instead of the old sliding scales and it finishes bottom left with My name is C... I can answer any question.
How long before she chattily says "It looks like you're writing a letter"?

I took a small Post-It note, a paper clip, a magnet, and some googly eyes and made a real life Clippy and stuck it to my memo board in my office. No one has noticed it yet.

I haven't noticed the paper clip yet in win 10, but I have noticed a general move towards taking more control out of the user's hands. Can anyone tell me how to turn off sounds that I don't want the computer to make? Mainly when an announcement that is of no interest to me pops up on the screen.

I can't find a mention of sounds anywhere in the settings.

The main difference is that even more is now on line - I get the impression that even when I'm playing solitaire, some machine somewhere is analysing my moves and totting up my scores.

Concerning the lunch I am just eating - I took about 8 tiny potatoes from our small crop from the garden and boiled them in their skins in the kitchen here at work. There is no way to tell until you cut into them which ones are the horrible, watery seed potatoes. Looks like I might get hungry again in an hour or two.

I know what you mean about the computer analysing your moves, TC - when I downloaded a game on my Windows 8.1, it confirmed it needed permission to access My Pictures(!) I set up a new login just to play games so that I can keep my pictures on a different login without worrying that Solitaire or whatever is stealing them!

You can go to application settings for each program, I think, and disable notifications. There might be also the option to just have visual rather than sound notifications, I don't know... smiley - goodluck

Local newspapers online are a PH for me, too - recently I saw published online an article giving far too much personal detail about a local politics story. It wouldn't have been too bad if the local newspaper was print only, with distribution only from a few outlets in the local area so only local people would have had access to the local details, but they don't seem to have realised that putting it online means it is searchable from everywhere... smiley - facepalm

Wise move, SashaQ. You want to make up some pictures for your Games account that say "Oi - GCHQ - Stop snooping around in my game scores - Haven't you better ways to recruit people?"

I did an experiment and tried to open up a solitaire game and play with the wifi switched off. smiley - puff It works fine. It just looks as though it's trying to spy on you.
