The BBC magazine page with its 7 questions quiz, which I used to love doing each Friday. But now you need a certain version of Flash to play it (why????) which my work 'puter doesn't have. And there's no "text only" or similar feature.

'As they say in Yorkshire “put more wood on't job'.
I do believe that I saw that 'special interest' film in a members only cinema in Bradford back in the 70's.
Ferrets, Flat Caps and er, I can't remember the whole title......

I briefly considered getting an iPad but then I realised I'd only use it for a few things I can do just as easily with second hand guitar gear for about the same price.

PH.
The whole Apple model of doing business.
I don't need them controling the downloads to my electronic devices. I'm in charge of them, not Apple.

As a mate of mine put it: "Apple products -- for people who never, ever need to do anything other than what the designer intended. Think different? Ha!"

It's interesting to observe how the whole Apple-is-cool thing has turned full-circle. Nobody buys Apple products to be "cool", now. They buy them because, well, Apple run an effective organisation and achieve what they intend to - selling stuff. Like any other business. (And I guess the products must achieve what the buyers want them to, too).
But the fashionable thing now doesn't seem to be buying Apple gear, it's knocking Apple gear.
If that sounds like I'm standing up for , I'm not - I just find it interesting to observe the fickleness of "cool".

Hey, it´s good for your health! You spend €600 on something Apple get for $25 ex factory instead of buying liver damage in the nearest pub!

One thing I can say for sure is that neither me nor the guy I quoted are 'cool'!

OK, I´m cooler than cool - I´m effing cold! Some superefficents are digging for the gas mains and I´ve no heating.

Something Apple have a major influence in is the ubiquitous cool, sleek styling of such products. I don't mind that style, but why can't we have other styles, too? Imagine if the only houses available were modernist white mirror-glassed penthouses; some of us would want a thatched cottage, a grass-covered eco-house or a regency mews.
Where's the thatched iPad?

Their marketing works - they don't need to change it. It's their job to sell stuff - and they do it pretty well.

Pink Paisley Posted Mar 9, 2012
And as a consumer it is my job to buy stuff that functions as I want it and offers me the choice that I want. I suspect that most people don't question the business model or even find it much of a problem.
I was cool in 1972.
Or at least, I THOUGHT I was.

PH: iPads, iPhones, and iWhatevers. For the record, I never liked them (except for iPods) and why do they name everything by putting an i in front of it?

I love my iPod shuffle (won it, I would never have given money for it) but loathe and detest iTunes. So I just hear the same music over and over and over...

PH: People who go into a bars and get upset when I tell them to "shift their arse".
They were sitting in between tables ,which are designed to sit 8 in total, if very cosily. They’ve unfolded out all there belongings, on to 2 tables i.e., snotty hankies, shopping bags, mobile phone, etc.
Then had started to eat off one table and read their Kindle on another.
Key: Complain about this post
