Mala and re: Hyperlinks. I wonder how many HooToo-ers have found themselves in a similar situation when researching an entry. I have certainly been there. I recently completed an article about Alternative 3, which was a TV hoax much like BBC's infamous spaghetti tree prank. Unfortunately a lot of people took it seriously, so I had to wade through a lot of conspiracy theory nonsense.
On a more positive note, researching other entries has led me into some unexpected but interesting areas, so I guess its a double edged sword.

Yes, I know what you mean. I'm trying to find good translations of a few passages from the Koran, and mostly, you just get anti-Islamic idiots.
And I now have so many tabs open that I can't see when I have new conversations on hootoo.

PH: well-meaning friends who take something too seriously or massively out of context, wade in, and make everyone feel bad.

Sho, dunno, but I can tell you I’ll have no money for it. Money’s gone on getting books for my second university semester and it’ll be over £50, I can guarantee.
Speaking of my PH is: I ordered a Kindle cover for £50 some time ago and it’s not here yet. To boot there’s no tracking info for it either. ARGH. Amazon I am going to kill you.
Atticus, on a side note: I love TVTropes.

PH: Office gossip. I don't care who was only pretending to be ill to watch the football or who drunkenly did what at the office party or who was sleeping with who. It's their life, and unless I'm a personal friend it's none of my damn business.

Second PH: people wearing jumpers with nothing underneath. To them it might be trendy... to me it looks like they either can't dress themselves or can't afford a shirt.

Stop looking at people wearing trendy clothing or you´ll get hooked on Valium. Fat girls wearing the minimum of fabric to show all their ugly tattoos...

Pit, I concur. And I shudder. I don't like that either. PH: stupid 14 page forms. Argh.

Ugh. The PDF originally wouldn't let any text be saved in it but I found a programme that changed it somehow so I can now save text.
Next problem: how on earth do I get this thing to the people who need it? I can't send them the link as they won't be able to access it, nor can I save it to Lars (my laptop). Urgh.

PH: I can't stand the new Dyson hand dryers that are popping up everywhere. First of all, as soon as you put your hands in you get water drops spraying up and making your top wet. And the gap at the top is so narrow that putting your hands in the dryer without touching the sides is more like a test of steady hands. I hate touching anything in public toilets. I'm sure the old-style hand dryers were more hygenic - even though you had to switch them on with an elbow. Stick to the vacuum cleaners, Mr Dyson.

PH No.2: Attending an appointment such as an interview, entering the room and when asked to sit, the interviewer keeps you waiting by pretending to be busy for five minutes or so. This is just an old and cheap tactic to establish superiority.

Anna, the save option is often actually a print option. If you don't already have a pdf printer installed through some other program, you can download a free one. I like pdfCreator, but there are plenty of others to choose from.

You can call me TC Posted Jan 11, 2011
I never use the hand-dryers, Dyson or not. I carry a small flannel or guest towel and get it out before I start washing my hands, so I don't have to fiddle around in my handbag with wet hants.
I don't like the noise, and I'm sure all that hot air isn't good for you, and you don't feel dry afterwards anyway.

Argh! Audibly licking your fingers whilst going through a pile of paperwork is bad enough... but to do it whilst *eating*?!

My manager frequently phones people while eating. Drives me nuts.

Researching something only to find that the two sites you're currently reading aren't just similar, the content is identical! (Though surprisingly, in this case at least, not pinched from Wikipedia.)

No, I mean, the one site just copied and pasted not only the text, but all the images... (They do have different layouts otherwise, and belong to different businesses/organisations.)

There are infinite ways of presenting the same 'proven facts' anyway, of course. How many biographies of Stalin, Napoleon or Henry VIII are there, for instance?
PH: Working with people who were once in the army, think they still are, and think all their colleagues are, too. Heh. He'll learn after he's worked with me for a while.
Key: Complain about this post
