Turn the sound back on a minute later. As the tension rises, so will the frequency - it will just sound like bees on a balmy afternoon.

Sorry - I forgot to add a petty hate. Yahoo! News - why are they so sensationalist? Not only that, but they repeat sensationalist stories that are at least a year old, very often, and have been debunked a multitude of times already.

A lot of news services do that - especially about science. They report a "breakthrough" I remember hearing about years ago.

It's laughable when up-to-date news is so far behind old gossip.

This is a petty one; I realise it's nice to be polite and people are only trying to help:
I'll be trying to cross a busy main road on my bike and someone in a car stops or slows to let me cross. I would rather have control of the situation and cross when there's a break in the traffic. If someone stops or slows it makes it more dangerous because I'm then committed to crossing and I've got to watch out for a) the traffic coming the other way and b) behind the vehicle to see if someone on a motorbike or other vehicle is taking the opportunity to overtake.

Conversley, people who walk out into the road when the safe crossing area is just a few feet away.

From a drivers point of view, we can wait. If we stopped to let you cross, we can wait till your crossed before moving on. Obviously this does not stand for those behind us but they are mad at the driver who stopped and not you, the cyclist.

fords - number 1 all over heaven Posted Jul 1, 2010
The Groob, are you in the UK? If so, if you have your bike with you and wish to cross the road, you should actually dismount. If you're on the bike and cycling, you're a vehicle but if you get off you're a pedestrian, so if you're on your bike and trying to cross the road you're breaking the Highway Code.
Now there's a huge PH of mine: Cyclists who think cycling on the pavement and forcing pedestrians to get out of their way is fine. It bloody isn't - use the road!

Bit of horses for courses, innit? You stop your lousy Vauxhall for a frigging cyclist and it costs the Mercer behind you all of 2.7 seconds - lousy communist you are or what.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Jul 1, 2010
fords, true unless it is a path dedicated to both pedestrians and cyclists. We have a lot of these here and the bloody council like to switch the bike bit from one pavement to the other fairly frequently which is irritating. As for getting off to push the bike over the road, you are right about the highway code but my bike generally has my two boys in a trailer on the back of it - it is difficult and slow to push it along from a standing start - much quicker (and safer) if I stay on the bike and use the gears to get us across.

I just hate cyclists.
And car frivers.
And pedestrians. Bloody pedestrians.
Grrrrr....

Oops. Should be car DRIVERS, not frivers.
Wouldn't believe bad spelling is also one of my pet hates, would you????

No Beatrice-I don't get Catherine Tate either. She's so supremely and embarrassingly unfunny, she gives female comedians a bad name

*Some* of her things are mildly amusing.
But what I don't like is this whole school of humour where things are supposed to become amusing through frequent repetition, and very little else - which she goes in for in a big way.

Yes fords, I'm in the UK. I'm about to review the HC so I may read into the cycling side too.

The phrase 'no time-wasters' on adverts I mean what does this actually mean?! It seems to be just something people put on their adverts because other people do.
The phrase is meaningless. Do they define a 'time-waster' as anyone who looks and doesn't buy what they're selling perhaps? That's not a time-waster. That's just what happens when you sell stuff
I've just seen this arrogant and rude phrase on ebay. I mean WTF, how can you be a time-waster on ebay- you either bid or you don't. You either win or you don't. You might need to ask a further question about the product ... is that time-wasting?

"No time-wasters". Hmmm.
It's enough to make me put a selection of finely crafted ales up for sale on e-bay. A few IPAs, perhaps, maybe a chocolate stout or two, some nice, hoppy summer numbers...
With the stipulation listed under the item:
"No wine-tasters".
Key: Complain about this post
