I have a petty hate that hasn't been mentioned yet. Why do they shine lights ON TO the audience at rock concerts? They blind the spectators and you can't see what's going on on the stage (provided you could see the stage at all, anyway - and if not, the blinding lights are even more annoying)

When did they start doing this? It even happens at rock concerts aimed at veterans like me. Never appened when I were a lass.

Petty hate: when after dealing with Emotionally Difficult Stuff there is still residual bad-temperedness and Being A Pillock which keeps spilling out at inopportune moments.

TC, do you know the word "Claque"? Bought spectators cheering mediocre actors - TV bought the idea, and the cameras need the lights.

Yes, but I think that's very unlikely as the concert I was at last night was a very local affair - and being a small town, nearly everyone knew everyone else there. The organisation was (very!) amateur and the group wasn't big enough to be able to afford, or to need, such gimmicks.

Bunch of stuff's been up TC... some of it very bad, some of it quite good, some of it wonderfully horribly confusingly exciting. The pieces of the jigsaw are fitting together now, but some are missing and some don't have the picture I expected them to, but overall it's all levelling out. Just got to get over the residual negative emotions.
