I think he goes by the name of Howard. I've never known for sure if he's an actor or - as Halifax claim - is a member of Halifax staff. I suppose shows like Big Brother prove that some folk are willing to go through any level of public humiliation just to be on telly for a few minutes. Here's a pic of him:

I'm pretty sure he was a real member of staff - he lives/d by me, and I think when the ads first came out there was an article in the local paper that said he worked at one of the local branches.

Anyway, they did leave him out of the last 2 ads... maybe they had enough of him, too.
And I think changing lyrics for sale of merchandise/ services isn't half as bad as changing lyrics to fit to a religious conviction- I know of many a popular songs that were converted into praising the name of the Lord (the Jewish one, in this case). It's a whole industry in Israel.

The celebration of stupidity! This is usually done by shows on ITV with "neighbours from hell" or similar, where stupid people are treated like heroes AND, now that I've started: people (usually on these kind of shows) who clap themselves and clap like children instead of an adult style of clapping.

it's when they clap with their hands right in front of their face and hold their hands rigidly straight whilst doing so.
God, I need to cheer up!

Yael Smith Posted Apr 18, 2006
Yup, he definitely claps like an adult, then.
I cringe at anything adults do that tries to be 'child-like'. Like babytalk.
It's demeaning to kids.

Those of you who aren't in the UK have hopefully been spared this but jade goody.... there is an example of people celebrating stupidity. I cannot stand her and feel the overwhelming urge to be incredibly violent whenever I see her.

Oh yes! And chantel, a very celebrated stupid and she claps like a child!

Okay, this is the pettiest of petty, and I know there are murderers out there, but I really hate those silly backless shoes that a lot of young/teenage girls wear. It makes them walk silly - a kind of 'I don't give a *#@!' walk and it makes the most infuriating silly 'slip slap' kind of noise.

On the shoe vibe.
I dont like flip flops. But I absolutely hated it when wearing a pair on holiday as a child when someone would accidently step on the back of one and you'd step forward resulting in a terrible pinching pain between your big toe and the one next to it as the plastic divider thing dug in.
Actually I hate people accidently stepping on the back of your shoe full stop. It's no big deal in the great scheme of things but when it happens it really fs me off.

Restaurants that give you a big basket of really delicious smelling fresh bread with a tiny little dish of rock hard butter. How difficult would it be? The bread just goes to waste cos you end up with holey bread with lumps of butter sticking out of it.

Isn't this the way it should be eaten?
On the restaurant theme-
Restaurant that buy parts of pie (filling, shells, etc), put them together and sell them as home made.
Restaurants that put a big jug of water on the table and let you drink away untill you order and recieve the food (by then you're full of water).
Restaurants that make you pay for tap water.
Buying bread from a baker and pretending it's home made bread. In fact, buying anything that's not made on the premises.
Restaurants that sit you hurriedly at a dirty table and have you wait untill they clean up.
Restaurants that allow annoying, rude waiters/waitresses to work for them.
And the list goes on...

It should be "one fell swoop" - it's a quote from Macbeth
"What, all my pretty chickens and their dam
At one fell swoop?"
meaning one fierce swoop.
