Ever heard the term 'rhetorical question, HVL?
If he really wanted to know, he knows where ask H2G2 is, he can post it here himself. Why do you feel it needed airing here?

"If he was able to answer every accusation he provokes in a logical manner, as some other people on here do with their alternate beliefs then it would be fine."
That's what I meant - I don't beleive that Justin thinks logically, I think he's got his own thought processes which makes communication if not impossible then extremely difficult, he doesn't seem to *get* the logic other people use and noone so far has *got* his logic.
Although I do wonder if he isn't a p***take

I think he's acceptable. Not much of a giggle, perhaps, but acceptable. And I'm always far warier of people who want to ban stuff than want to preach it, no matter how distasteful and/or offensive it may appear.
He's not the sort of person I would choose to have a natter with, but then, no one is forcing me to.

Hoo - I certainly don't *accept* him. I enjoy baiting him. And I was the first, to my knowledge, to suggest having him kicked off the site. Go and check the *Why am i being discriminated against?* thread...
However. You do have to accept that he has a right to post on here just like everyone else. Would it be fair that I get thrown off the site because I oppose modern day Christian thinking? It wouldn't.
I think the best approach to Justin would be to call for better moderation and intervention of his postings. The problem is with the moderation, is that they don't take context into account...as well as the tone of the conversation.Justin has a blacnd repetitive tone about it that has a tendency to hide what he is saying.
But it is all there. I mean, people, go and look. This guy IS offensive...
Also, where is the other fundamentalist Christian? Is he the same as Justin?

Saturnine Posted Dec 2, 2002
Blues Shark - well that's a little silly. I'm not being belief-specific. If I was walking around going "Christian scum"...THAT would be offensive.
What box would you put him in?

Who said he was a Christian? if you want to bait (ie flame and troll) a fellow fundamentalist regious type, I'm afraid you'll have to find himself, or hope somebody else will give the link.
I'm sure HVL will oblige.

Pencil Queen - I wonder that too. The problme is with Justin, is that he DOESN'T think, full stop. His mind is a 1000+ year old book. No opinions, just quotes. You aren't ever going to get a conversation about anything ever out of him.
*gulps*
At least you lot are far away from him. Apparently he preaches in Weston Super Mare...which isn't that far from Bristol...

"Ever heard the term 'rhetorical question, HVL?"
I assume you don't want an answer to that...
"If he really wanted to know, he knows where ask H2G2 is"
What evidence do you have for that, BS? If you bothered to read the thread I've linked to, you'll see him asking an ACE how it is people know which conversations he's involved in. He seems to have very little grasp of how the site works at all, even after six months using it. As I said before (presumably you missed it), I don't think he knows "Ask h2g2" exists. Why do you think he does?
Oh, and the score so far:
Acceptable: 10
Unacceptable: 0.

Blues Shark - VAST apologies. Getting a little edgy aren't we? Just because I bait Justin in the hope of finding some sense in him, doesn't mean to say that I would do it to the other fundamentalist on here. Guilty of a little stereotyping there aren't we Blues Shark?

Hoo - Don't you include yourself there? You can't just rant on about censoring someone just because you don't agree with them. There has to be some realm of logic behind it, otherwise you are just as moronic as JTP...

I will not. Can you take this offtopic discussion somewhere else, please? Pretty please?

Saturnine: I didn't understand post 32 at all. Please
(a) ask me again, and explain what you mean and
(b) do it on my personal space, so it doesn't clag up this conversation. I'm trying to keep it on topic here.
Thanks.

Sorry, HVL, but I happen to consider your motives and methodolgy of drawing attention to the issue to be relevant to the question, and therefore 'on topic'.

Saturnine Posted Dec 2, 2002
It IS on topic. Don't be so rude. I'm simply saying, that in parading around like this, and seeming to want to censor JTP without any logic or reason, you are coming off as just as foolish as the guy you are trying to censor.
Of course, if that isn't your aim, then fair enough, and lets carry on with the conversation.

Hoovooloo Posted Dec 2, 2002
Right, since there seems to be a MASSIVE gap in understanding here, let's take it from the top.
The topic, and I should know since I started the bloody thread in the first place, is "Is Justin acceptable?". It's *not* intended to be a conversation, per se. It's a survey. I just want as many "yes"'s and "no"'s from as many DIFFERENT users as possible. That's all. If you've anything else to say, please do it in a different thread.
Next: Saturnine: "seeming to want to censor JTP "
Please read the first posting in the thread again. Or post 20, if you like. The question I posed was "Is Justin acceptable?". I gave my answer to start things off. Which part of "YES" did you misunderstand? I'm not trying to suggest even for a second that Justin should be censored. Where on earth did you get that impression? I am against censorship. I personally think that the majority of people on this site are accepting kind of people, and that they'd say "Yes, with all his faults, he's acceptable." I just want to confirm it.
I've got your answer, for which, thanks. If you want to take some part or other of it up with me, I'm going to ask ONE more time, PLEASE do so at my personal space and not on this thread. If you do that, I'll be more than happy to chat. If you ask me more questions here, I'll regard it as offtopic trolling and ignore it. Thanks for your cooperation.
Now, is there anyone ELSE with an opinion, please?
H.

And in that you are stifling a conversation that people want to have...
How does that make sense???????
If we want to discuss the issue, we can do so here. Can we not? Or am I mistaken again?
And as for your view on it, I was gaining the distinct impression that you were taking the *unacceptable* side, and looking down people who didn't think so. But I was obviously wrong, so I pffer my apologies!!!!

Saturnine, hijacking a conversation happens a lot in h2g2, but is not considered good manners. The person who starts the conversation is entitled to ask you to bring your discussion elsewhere. Most thread authors don't mind, but Hoovooloo is renowned for being difficult.

I'm with Saturnine here. The forum and community structure of h2g2 works because it encourages conversation and discussion.
None of the postings made within this thread have, so far, gone off topic. Fair dues, they've not been the straight out Yes/No style vote type of thing that you asked for, but let's be honest here, did you really expect it would be?
This conversation hasn't been "hijacked", and how I hate that phrase, because it still is a conversation on the topic, it's just not a poll.
As for our Preacher friend, I find him offensive and very narrow minded, but I also have no objections to his presence. But, I have only read his homepage and not his postings as of yet. I also have no desire to read his postings. Anyone who can claim that Ian Paisley is a Pagan is not someone I wish to talk to, and the beauty of h2g2 is that I don't have to.
If he were to come and try and spout at me then I may be inclined to check the House Rules, which are disturbingly lacking in their mention of Religion
