North Vs. South - No Mindless Bigotry please ;)

I went to Uni in Lincoln so I know it quite well. It is bland in many ways, but I had a cracker and thusly will always love it. I'm going tomorrow actually.

I also have a mate from Skeg Vegas, and I've been a few times. It's not three bad, and the seals in the sanctuary are, erm, cute. If Martin Kemp performs live in 'Matches', then it must be good.

A cracking time, chronic. I'm a big fan of the vernacular, so sorry if I confused you with my gibberish.

I come from Lincoln, and it was vastly boring before the University was built. I left before the city became a bit more livelier, if you think it was dull when you were at Uni imagine what it was like beforehand!

Interesting aside - adjectives have been adapted to become nouns. Hmm - think I'l take that over to the british english thread.

I'm not happy about the North/South divide. Not now I've learned I have to pay an increase of 15% on my community tax next year so as the government can even things up.I'm not happy at all.
Incog.

guessing you are from a Southern perspective?
here (midst o'the Midlands) we have a situation where (we are told) development money goes to the southern half since their mortgages are higher. This is north-south divide on a county scale... disturbing...
what do they need money for? they can milk Shakespeare for all eternity, where's what've we got? quarries.
(Hey Lincoln-dweller- were you in the Mardy thread? that is one reason for *not* living down South.)
I do not automatically think of north-and-sowff but rather everywhere else and South East. I have parts of the others I love, and would gladly live in, but never London. It is just not for me as a home, though I am pleased to have it as a destination.
HOWEVER... please stop the charade that London is the easiest place in the world to get to (a reason often given for having the big Meets there) because tho' trains are frequent, you have to be willing to pay £30+ if you want to arrive there before 11 (from your local station). And 50p for a bar of Dairy Milk?
(Note to SouthEasterners labouring under strange delusion- I do not talk Brummie. If they had the next Meet there, you'd all be much the wiser.)
I have been to all corners of England at least (tho' not all of the antechambers) and on reflection I prefer the North. (Although the South West is lovely.) I have found the friendliness level to be up on the South (that is, friendliness to total strangers, rather than any deep long-lasting commitment) and I prefer the way it sounds. Sorry...
making no reference to southern bedwetters, northern 'alcoholic wife-beating mechanics' or those who, when visiting friends, fluctuate accordingly.

My family numbers a large geordie contingent and my sister lives in Newcastle plus I also lived in Co Durham for 3 years so I do like and understand Northeners.I just ended up living in the South because my old man was in the Royal Navy for 24 years and mostly based here at Portsmouth Dockyard. However the idea that we are all rich and well off in the south is a perpetual myth.As you pointed out basic living costs are sky high so it does even out. It's just that instead of hitting the richest poeople who live down here they are targetting all who live here to pay extra community tax even those who's incomes are no higher than in the north.
Incog.Who would rather live in Wales with the welsh contingent of the family if the job situation was better there.
