Is Harry Potter really that great?

Viggo "has a more saturnine countenance than the other two rather never-suffered-worse-than-a-papercut boyish men mentioned on this thread."
Two? Which two?
So far we've had *trawlsthroughbacklogonbehalfoffellowresearchers* 8 suggestions!

How about Robbie Williams as Sirius Black?

No. The woman cannot write. I would happily burn those books to save the poor kids from her awfully edited and structured, poor excuse for writing. They are only reading it because it is a trend. Not for the sake of reading it.
And the argument "well at least kids are reading" is not logical. They are readng POOR writing, and slapdash stories - ripped off from the like of Roald Dahl. Perhaps if people gave their kids better books, I wouldn't worry so much...

Hmmm. Book burning.
Anyway, I think Viggo would be pretty good. The thing is that he was at school with Snape and with Harry's parents so he has to be contemporary. Some of the names mentioned above seem a bit too old, I think.
Do we know who's playing Lupin? Now that should be someone big and hairy, shouldn't it?
Saw the film this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it, and so did the kids. Snape was particularly special during his duel with Gilderoy Lockhart.

Saturnine, I certainly wouldn't agree. I have been reading children's fantasy for the last 33 years and I consider JKR's work to be among the most original I've written. My children read them because they were by far the best stories they had ever encountered, not because they were told to.

With a slip of the pen like that, I'm obviously too careless to be JK Rowling!

I have to say I enjoyed Rowling more than Dahl. I never really liked Dahl.

Enjoyed the film more than the first one (the chess match was such a disappointment)
And Ron gets all the best lines, which considering he's much more likable than the rather bland Harry is only fair.
I always used a Janet Street Porter voice for Rita Skeeter

Hmmmm. Cute, but can he be serious for more than a nanosecond.
Sirius needs to be serious.

I saw the Chamber of Reused Storylines, sorry, Secrets and although the film was entertaining, I thought that the plot was very similar to the previous book/film.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Here's the evidence: Harry escapes his adoptive parents by flying vehicle, Harry goes to Hogwarts (not before meeting the Weasley family and visiting Diagon Alley), meets new teachers -some which are sinister or could be potential villains, uncovers a plot relating to the past of Hogwarts, Hagrid hides a secret, Harry plays Quidditch and wins, the toilets feature in the plot, He uses the invisibility cloak, he meets a monster in the forest, he discovers a underground chamber in Hogwarts, battles an old enemy of the school.
See? the plots are interchangable.
Sorry JK, I don't think I'll be reading the books.
