Is Harry Potter really that great?
Gnomon - time to move on Posted Nov 15, 2002
Today's the official release date, but there have been "previews" for about a week now.

I think they've done "preview showings" at selected venues.
Anyway I don't think Tom Baker would do for Sirius Black. Simply not sexy enough. But I've had a better idea. Martin Shaw, oh yum!

I've just been checking out the Warners site to see if there's any inkling of who might be lined up. Nothing, of course.
But you can sign up to the site and get yourself Sorted! I managed to get myself into Slytherin House at the first attempt! Yesssssss!!!

Having just seen the LOTR Special Extended Version, I'm thinking, how abot Viggo Mortensen for Sirius Black?

We saw it at UCI, a friend watched it at the Warner Vilage and it was also being shown all week in a little independent local cinema.
They weren't just previews - they were being shown evry half hour, all day, every day.

I pictured Sirius as a bigger fella than Viggo, not like Arnie but a large frame.

My youngest daughter, then aged 7, was "sorted" by the Warner Bros website and was put in Slytherin. She was disgusted. Sh re-did the test and carefully chose the answers so that she would end up in Gryffindor. Just the sort of think a sneaky Slytherin would do!

Think I'm with you on Viggo, Liam - far too elf-like, not chunky enough.
Think dog. Think more lurcher than whippet!

I only want to be a Slytherin cos it might give me a better chance with Alan Rickman...

Previews, my dear Tefkat. It sometimes seems that more cinemas get films early than don't these days, especially with big films (I'm guessing they pay for the privelege).

Saw the movie this Fri. The film already had burns and scratches in it. I am accustomed to seeing a good copy on opening day in LA, because film usually opens here first, so this was very dissapointing. I blame all you sneakpeaking Brits.
Rita Skeeter can turn herself to a eensy ickle bug, so there's no reason little Viggo couldn't be a really big dog. He certainly has a more saturnine countenance than the other two rather never-suffered-worse-than-a-papercut boyish men mentioned on this thread.

I saw it on Sunday, 'twas excellent! Far better than the first film, although there's one line from Professor McGonagall which I really wish had been left in...
